SUMMARY
The Senior Systems Engineer ensures the operation of Chickasaw Nation Industries on-premise and Cloud computer systems, servers, and network connections. This position requires the knowledge and skills to provision, manage, monitor, and decommission private and public cloud environments utilize VMWare ESXi, NSX, vRA and other virtualization and cloud services. The Senior Systems Engineer will also be highly skilled with automating infrastructure tasks through various scripting tools and techniques.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Strategy & Planning:
Participates in the planning and design of enterprise on-premise systems, cloud solutions, and security architecture.

Participates in the creation of enterprise design and configuration documentation (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures).

Participates in the planning and execution of an enterprise Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan.

Acquisition & Deployment:
Maintains up-to-date, detailed knowledge of Automation and Orchestration technologies along with the ensuring the continuity and accessibility of IT systems.

Recommends and manages virtual solutions, hardware, and storage solutions (cloud and on-premise).

Performs the deployment, integration, and initial configuration of new solutions and of any enhancements to existing systems in accordance with standard best operating procedures and the enterprise's architectural documents.

Evaluates new and possible cloud vendors and advise the Strategic Sourcing Specialist on those that meet organizational standards and policies.

Operational Management:
Maintains up-to-date baselines for the secure configuration and operations of all in-place devices, whether they be under direct control (e.g. security tools) or not (e.g. workstations, servers, network devices, etc.).

Maintains operational configurations of all in-place security solutions as per the established baselines.

Reviews logs and reports of all in-place devices, whether they be under direct control (e.g. security tools) or not (e.g. workstations, servers, network devices, etc.). Interpret the implications of that activity and devise plans for appropriate resolution.

Participates in investigations into problematic activity.

Provides on-call support for end users for all in-place infrastructure solutions.

Evaluates procured cloud services to ensure they are meeting existing security standards.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline preferred. Minimum of ten (10) years' systems engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience. Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 Azure and Active Directory.

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Strong system administration (Windows and Linux) at the command-line level.
Strong understanding of IP, TCP/IP, and other network administration protocols
Experience with VMWare ESX and NSX virtualization
Experience with VMWare vRealize Orchestration and Automation is a plus
Experience with Powershell, bash, Perl, and/or other shell scripting.
Working knowledge of on-premise and cloud backup/archiving software and operations. Veeam and EMC Networker are preferred.
Understanding of cloud security best practices.
Experience with templates and other configurable items to enable automation.
Familiarity with deployment techniques (and tools) in a distributed environment.
Basic monitoring techniques in a dynamic environment.
Design of self-healing and fault-tolerant services.
Familiarity developing with RESTful API interfaces.
Basic understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
Multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking.
Infrastructure as Code: design and security, configuration management, integration, deployment, performance monitoring and tuning, automation of infrastructure.
Working knowledge of one or more high-level programming languages (C#, Java, PHP, Ruby, Python, etc.).
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Ability to conduct research into IT security issues and products as required
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
One or more of the following certifications is preferred:
Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professiona1journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
