Global Platforms is looking for a Software Engineer to play a key role in the team that builds and maintains the RELX Content Datalake. The Content DataLake supports all the key products across RELX, processing billions of transactions per month in a cost effective and performant manner.

You will join a supportive, collaborative team that is working on the RELX Content Datalake and your contributions as a Sr Software Engineer will be to support the development of new features as well as enhancing the existing features.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience
• BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).

• Strong proficiency of applicable development languages including but not limited to: Python, Java, JavaScript, XML, SQL, Windows, and UNIX.

• Proficiency in REST/HTTP API development.
• Experience with using test-driven development and testing frameworks (i.e. pytest, cucumber, Karate, Robot Framework, etc.)
• Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.
• Good oral and written communications skills.

• Working knowledge of cloud (AWS) is desirable (i.e. API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, etc.)

• Proficient using source control systems (i.e. Git, Azure DevOps, etc.)

• Proficient use of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and software development principles such as Agile, trunk based development, quality gates, code coverage, etc.

• Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources.

• Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity. (i.e. PlantUML, Markdown, etc.)
• Ability to complete moderately complex bug fixes.

• Working knowledge of secure development practices (i.e. encryption at rest/transit, least privilege access, etc.)

• Strong research skills.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
• Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.
• Complete complex bug fixes.
• Work closely with other development team members to understand complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.
• Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
• Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
• Resolve complex technical issues as necessary.
• Train entry-level software engineers as directed by department management, ensuring they are knowledgeable in critical aspects of their roles.
• Keep abreast of new technology developments.
• Design and work with complex data models.
• Mentor less-senior software developers on development methodologies and optimization techniques.
• All other duties as assigned.
