JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

This individual has demonstrated knowledge in multiple Tremco's core chemistries, products and processes, and the scientist is responsible for all efforts and initiatives within a technology platform. They propose and create technology and processes when given general guidance from senior leadership and business trends. The individual will demonstrate competency and growth in regards to adaptability, initiative, resourcefulness, communication, collaboration and accountability, and develop and mentor subordinates as their platform develops, improves or maintains Tremco's products and systems to grow sales and market share.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adaptability Competency:

• Responsible for a chemistry technology platform and has abundant knowledge of platform formulations and processes.
• Monitors, develops and advises subordinates to ensure quality products and processes.
• Identifies and understands challenges and offers new concepts, products and processes to deliver solutions.
• Develops product systems that complement one another to deliver high performance solutions.
• Proposes product use and application, and designs experimentation to demonstrate components of Tremco value proposition.
• Can work with all areas of Tremco's core chemistries and processes.
• Develops and internalizes transformational technology into commerce.

Initiative Competency:

• Oversees and assists others in developing project plans to map agreed scope of work and committed timelines within their platform.
• Monitors work results for their staff and proposes experimental course of action.
• Facilitates ideation and solutions and prove or disprove concepts.
• Develops and monitors staff to their job description.
• Identifies and develops emerging technologies.

Resourceful Competency:

• Uses knowledge of key testing protocol and designs appropriate testing methodology.
• Interacts with all departments and customers to develop solutions.
• Uses chemical and field experiences to create product solutions.
• Leverages partnerships to attain desired outcome.

Communication Competency:

• Maintains laboratory notebook to standard.
• Maintains monthly updates and technical reports for business discussing project progression and next steps.
• Presents work and subject matter internally and externally.
• Authors or Coauthors work for publication.
• Prepares documentation needed for intellectual property.
• Must be able to promote high level concepts to all levels within the business.

Collaboration Competency:

• Oversees tasks and duties as a core, or non-core member in PPOG, raw material evaluation and product audits.
• Submits and collaborates on ideas and concepts in innovation processes such as SPARK.
• Activity participates in departmental initiatives such as KPIs, MAD index, housekeeping and small k's.
• Guides work within R&D, and with outside departments to scope concepts, ideas and technology.
• Core resources during outside project analysis and establishes project viability.

Accountability Competency:

• Performs and reports all work for themselves, and staff, assuring it is consistent with scientific methodology and standards.
• Performs assignments, and leads assignments, as agreed upon in project plans and standard work.
• Report results and adjust priorities to accommodate commitments.
• Secures all resources and materials needed for timely work flow.
• High level of self- management and assists others in their development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or chemical engineering with 18+ years work experience OR
• Master's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or chemical engineering with 12+ years of work experience
