Summary:
Senior Level Project Manager based at the corporate headquarters in Raleigh, NC, reporting to Engineering Manager. Responsibilities include aggregate plant process modeling, plant design and layout, process water (fresh and slurry) pumping and piping system design, basic railroad design, civil/sitework design including earthwork, stormwater, pavement, and utilities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Adhere to and enforce the company's world class safety standards and practices and have hazard recognition abilities.
  • Project management and general oversight for the design and construction of various capital engineering projects for the Aggregates. Including new aggregate plant installations, general plant capital and process improvement projects, as well as rail and marine unloading; and other construction related projects
  • Communicate with the engineering group, operations management, senior division management, and corporate managers on project status.
  • Provide innovative and knowledgeable contributions in aggregate plant processing and be able to assess and submit various process improvements for the aggregate operations. Additional duties include analyzing the effects of various process improvements.
  • Manage multiple projects in multiple areas simultaneously; adhere to and communicate variances to approved budgets; follow and enforce Martin Marietta safety guidelines; and track completion of projects on a regular basis without losing sight of the direction of the projects.
  • Prepare process model simulations (i.e. Aggflows) based on project requirements.
  • Prepare corresponding site plan layouts, elevation general arrangement drawings for crusher towers, screen towers, conveyors, etc.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on contractor supplied structural concrete and fabrication detail drawings.
  • Prepare process water (fresh and slurry) pumping and piping system designs.
  • Prepare basic railroad conceptual layouts and corresponding cost estimates.
  • Prepare basic civil/sitework designs including earthwork, stormwater, pavement, and utilities
  • Engineering for design, specification and maintenance of existing and new equipment to support all aspects of plant operations
  • Identify and address areas of concern regarding potential liabilities and risk
Requirements
  • B.S. in civil, mechanical or mining engineering required; PE license a plus.
  • 7 years experience in the aggregates or related industry.
  • Experience with the installation, start-up, and commissioning of processing equipment and structures typical to the mining industry (i.e. screens, crushers, conveyors, feeders, pumps, wash systems, etc.).
  • Must be familiar with concrete and fabricated steel design with ability to develop civil, structural, and mechanical general arrangement drawings
  • Must be able to read and understand detailed design drawings, schematics, and equipment specifications.
  • Must be able to provide construction oversight for installation of foundations, steel erection, and equipment placement.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Propeller, Belt Analyst, AggFlow (Aggregate Plant Simulation program), JD Edwards, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project software is required
  • Experience in Advance Steel, Inventor, Tekla Structures, Solid Works, Trimble, Civil 3-D and/or other 3-D modeling software is a plus
  • Ability to develop project scope of work, bid package documents, and cost estimates.
  • Develop and manage overall project schedule and communicate project updates effectively and accurately.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and excellent reporting skills required
  • Self-motivator and able to work independently or on a team.
  • Out of town travel required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License
  • Lift up to 35 pounds
  • Visual acuity, clear speech & hearing ability,cognitive ability,hand/eye coordination
  • Walking, climbing stairs and occasional ladders, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, and squatting to perform the essential functions of this position
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment as required
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination and vision to safely fulfill all in-plant job requirements
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditionsandin industrial environment around hot, noisy process equipment
  • Pass required background check, physical examination and drug screens
