Salary: $68,000 - $80,000

Primary Purpose:The Senior Program Officer, Community Sponsorship Technical Expert (Welcome Corps) is responsible for designing and creating training content and program supports for private sponsor groups and refugees participating in the Welcome Corps program. The position is also responsible for delivering pre-recorded training modules, one-to-one or group technical assistance sessions, and facilitating peer learning spaces for private sponsor groups. The ideal candidate will be comfortable tracking user feedback and learning resource needs, updating training and program supports based on stakeholder feedback, and contributing to monthly and quarterly reports. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of community sponsorship program models, best practices, and policies in the US and globally. They will work in close collaboration with partners and experts to create and deliver high-quality training, technical assistance, and program supports. The candidate must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.



Overview of the Refugee Welcome Collective (RWC)

The Refugee Welcome Collective is a community sponsorship (CS) technical assistance (TA) and training provider funded by the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) to improve outcomes for refugees resettled through the U.S. Refugee Admissions program by building capacity and expanding community sponsorship. The Refugee Welcome Collective collaborates with partners to provide in-depth training programs, weekly learning sessions, learning resources, and on-demand technical assistance for sponsors, community sponsorship staff, refugees paired with sponsors, and community and institutional partners to support quality community sponsorship programs across the United States.

Essential Duties:

  • Design and create training content and program supports, such as guides, toolkits, one-pagers for private sponsor groups and refugees that are part of the Welcome Corps program.
  • Collate existing materials solicited from community sponsorship stakeholders, to develop support materials, including learning materials, guides, toolkits, RWC App, and learner feedback and evaluation approaches.
  • Deliver pre-recorded training modules to meet Welcome Corps training needs.
  • Deliver one-to-one or group technical assistance sessions to Welcome Corps private sponsorship groups.
  • Design and facilitate a peer learning space for Welcome Corps private sponsor groups.
  • Carefully track user feedback, challenges, opportunities, learning resource needs, and learning resource issues.
  • Update training and program supports, including the RWC App, based on user and stakeholder feedback.
  • Complete detailed notes for all training and technical assistance sessions provided.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Stay up to date with community sponsorship program models, best practices, and policies in the US and globally.
  • Work in close collaboration with partners and experts to create and deliver high quality training, technical assistance, and program supports.
  • May supervise Program Officers.
  • Other tasks as needed.


Skills and experience required:
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging training and technical assistance materials, including program supports
  • Minimum of three years of experience developing and delivering training and learning materials
  • Proficiency in adult learning and training methods
  • Minimum of two years experience implementing community sponsorship programs
  • Ability to maintain a high-performance standard with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work experience required.



Special Requirements:

Work Location:

This position is a remote role with some in-person responsibilities related to meetings or onsite technical assistance visits. Remote employees must be able to fulfil the following conditions:
  • Ability to maintain secure and appropriate personal work environment for day-to-day work
  • Access to strong and reliable internet access
  • Ability to adhere to CWS data security policies and protect sensitive and personally identifiable information
  • Regular work hours must span core business hours 10AM-4PM Eastern time
  • Close proximity to U.S. airport and ability to travel to attend CWS and external meetings, conferences and other in-person engagements.
  • Must use CWS provided equipment such as laptop and cell phone
