Key Responsibilities:

Tropicana Brands Group is looking for a highly qualified Senior Laboratory Technician to support the Research and Development team to ensure the company's goals and initiatives are met.

This role will be a Full-Time position responsible for ensuring our Chicago Innovation Center functions flawlessly and our Product, Process and Package development needs are met. Tropicana is looking for a critical thinker with exceptional communication, influencing and relationship management skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

This is a 100% on-site position at our Innovation Lab Center.

Hours: 1st Shift - 7:30 AM-3:30 PM

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support our Innovation and Productivity Initiatives
  • Oversee the operation of our Chicago Innovation Center
  • Define areas of opportunity for efficiencies, safety and agility
  • Assist our R&D in product, process and package introductions
  • Tackle ambiguous problems to determine and prioritize business strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to implement short- and long-term strategies to support organizational operation and transformation
  • Lead, influence, and collaborate across functions to drive results through formal and informal channels
  • Create great tasting, fresh, and nourishing new products for introduction to the portfolio of Tropicana Brands Group products
  • Run lab equipment including but not limited to titrators, pH meters, refractometers, laboratory hoods, lab scale pasteurizers, scales, etc. (training will be provided). Experience with operation of Microthermics Pasteurizer a plus
  • Design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings and sharing data in a scientific manner
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for lab equipment and train others in operation of equipment
  • Support Site Lead with managerial operations, ensure visitors follow established protocols, support with required Landlord operations and procedures

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required preferably in the fields of Food Science, Chemistry or Biology
  • Must be located in or near Chicago, IL or willing to relocate
  • Must have 2-3 years' experience in a Lab position and a minimum of 1 year in the Food and Beverage industry or comparable industry
  • Willingness to be on site daily at our Chicago Innovation Center during 1st Shift
  • Legally authorized to work in the country to which you are applying without requiring sponsorship or additional work permits now or in the future
  • Ability to thrive in a fast pace agile environment with limited direction and balance competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support building strong internal and external relationships and effectively communicate your work product
  • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives
  • Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity
  • Consulting experience with a focus on operations management
  • Nimble business mind with a focus on developing creative solutions
  • Strong project reporting skills, with a focus on interdepartmental communication
