Responsibilities:

  • Life Cycle Maximization (LCM) Senior Engineers at Kimberly-Clark work as members the Global Nonwovens Research & Development organization to envision and implement new products, processes, materials, or technology concepts, and provide continued support for commercialized materials.
  • The Senior Engineer for this role will provide guidance and leadership in identification, development, optimization, and problem solving for internally produced and externally purchased Nonwoven materials used in our Global Personal Care products, with a focus on materials used in the Intake of fluids.
  • Candidates should have a relevant degree, experience across multiple Global Nonwoven or Business Unit technologies, and a demonstrated ability to effectively interface with a broad range of team members, global customers, manufacturing partners, and Business Unit Leaders.
  • Identify, lead and/or support product, material, or process projects with a financial scope of up to $5 million from conception through commercialization.
  • Lead initiatives in Global Nonwovens to support customer specific programs related to improving cost, quality, or converting performance - for global Personal Care customers.
  • Lead initiatives in Global Nonwovens related to customer or region-specific material supply.
  • Provide functional guidance and support in the initiation, design, development, and optimization of the materials used in Nonwoven fabrics/laminates to meet GNW-PC shared objectives.
  • Provide protection to technologies, processes, materials, and products through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.
  • Seek, recognize, define, and solve problems to achieve GNW shared customer objectives. Use LEAN, Six Sigma, or other recognized techniques to identify complex technical issues, help identify the root cause of the problem, and develop control solutions for long-term control and/or containment.
  • Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized as an effective implementer of research principles, scientific analysis, and project management.
  • Plan and carry out project responsibilities with limited assistance and direction.
  • Communicate and document project plans and results to key customers.
  • Ownership and maintenance for Corewrap, Flaps, Pouch, Surge, and Spacer Layer Material specifications, including biannual (or as needed) capability reviews with related statistical data analysis.
  • Prepare for and lead partnership meetings between GNW and PC stakeholders multiple times annually where GNW production and quality data, as well as PC converting data and trends are reviewed for Intake Materials.
  • Develop and implement strategy for short, mid, and long-term post-commercialization activities for Intake Materials.
  • The expectation for a GNW LCM Senior Engineer is to be able to manage a combination from the list below of up to five A-Priority Level programs simultaneously:
  • Lead programs for Global PC Intake materials supply security
  • Support programs for Global PC Intake materials related raw material supply security.
  • Lead programs for Global PC Intake materials quality improvements
  • Lead programs for Global PC Intake materials cost savings
  • Lead or support innovation efforts for Global PC Intake materials.

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or advanced degree in related major scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of 10 years of experience in a variety of technical or operational assignments.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects within required timeframes.
  • Proficiency in use of internal Kimberly-Clark systems, including (but not limited to) EtQ, SAP-GUI, and SAP-PLM.
  • Proficiency in JMP or other statistical analysis tools.
  • Manufacturing experience though a Kimberly-Clark Mill assignment in PC or GNW, and/or previous Business Support/LCM experience.
  • Strong knowledge and background in Commercialization projects in the Nonwovens field including product and/or technology understanding. A demonstrated ability to translate that knowledge into execution of process or product related initiatives.
  • Expertise with Kimberly-Clark products, procedures, and processes.
  • Strong customer facing communication skills in technical and business settings are highly encouraged.
