Reports to Director Employee and Labor Relations

Purpose

This position is highly analytical in its support of the organization's Employee & Labor Relations team.

This position manages all labor & employee relations data and related databases and physical documents. Additionally, the position provides analytical support on the administration of the collective bargaining agreements, grievance procedures, and the company's labor and employee relations policies. Among other responsibilities, this position prepares for, participates in, and advises on the grievance procedure, contract negotiations, arbitration hearings and other legal actions involving employment matters.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor company or workforce adherence to labor agreements.
  • Support labor/contract negotiations by note taking, drafting proposals and counter proposals, recommending resolutions, assessing risk levels and identifying/analyzing/assessing the impact and possible alternatives of union proposals.
  • Work with specialist areas to draft rules or regulations to govern collective bargaining activities in collaboration with company, government, or employee representatives.
  • Support submission of required governmental reports or forms related to labor relations matters, such as equal employment opportunity (EEO) forms, new hire forms, or minority compensation reports. Support the selection of mediators or arbitrators for labor disputes or contract negotiations.
  • Research case law or outcomes of previous case hearings.
  • Review, analyze and support employee disciplinary actions, such as written reprimands, suspensions, or terminations.
  • Prepare evidence for disciplinary hearings. Partners with other functions such as Compensation and Work Force Analyzation for data analysis needs.
  • Review employer practices or employee data to ensure compliance with contracts on matters such as wages, hours, or conditions of employment. Prepare reports or presentations to communicate related

Skills and Requirements

Skills/Abilities:
•Excellent data analysis ability
•Able to work with minimal supervision. Able and willing to travel
•Basic knowledge of labor relations and human resources functional areas, laws, and regulations
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong time management, scheduling, organizational skills
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively manage stakeholders
•Ability to analyze data and provide insights. Experience with statistical concepts, interpreting statistical results, and identifying trends
•Required computer skills include, HRIS (preferably SAP), Case Management, Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint: Intermediate, Word: Intermediate, Excel: Intermediate)
Experience/Training:
•3-5 years of HR and analytical experience
•Experience in labor relations preferred:
•Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
