Job Summary: The Senior Director of Addiction Services leads the implementation of Substance Use Disorder treatment services that are easy to access, meet the needs of the people seeking them, are effective, fiscally sustainable, and clinically sound and that align seamlessly with Bay Cove's overall strategy. The Senior Director of Addictions Services contributes to Bay Cove's mission by ensuring the availability and accessibility of the services necessary to support people on their recovery journey. This is an exempt position.

Essential Functions of Position:

• Oversee the Addiction Services Centralized Intake system and supervise Intake Coordinators toward a goal of "starting with yes" to ensure no barrier admission for all individuals who meet the most basic admissions criteria.
• Work collaboratively with program leadership and the Director of Operations to identify and resolve barriers to accessing treatment through implementation of creative support strategies and implement plans to ensure the lowest barrier admissions possible.
• Provide training, supervision, and guidance to assigned Program Directors on all operational aspects of the program including human resources and employee relations, community relations, admissions, medical/clinical services, case management, utilization review, programming, fiscal/budget management, operations, and facilities management and provide direct oversight of programs in the event of an extended leadership absence.
• Ensure that assigned programs adhere to all federal and state regulatory mandates, accreditation standards, contractual agreements, and Bay Cove Human Services policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the Director of Operations Services, Quality Improvement Department, and the Manager of Program Administration to ensure program compliance with fiscal/budget expectations, licensing and certifications, quality assurance, quality improvement and outcomes plans, and clinical programming on an ongoing basis.
• Closely monitor program finances and institute corrective action plans to maximize revenue and minimize expenses as needed.
• Participate in the planning and coordination of proposals for new/supplemental funding to support program activities and prepare related progress reports as required.
• Ensure employee, patient, and community partner complaints and disputes are addressed in a timely fashion.
• Collaborate with the Director of Operations and the training department to ensure implementation of a training curriculum for all employees of the service area that meets DPH/BSAS requirements and collaborate with the Training Department to develop and facilitate agency-wide training on Substance Use Disorder and Treatment topics relevant to all roles.
• Represent the interests of Addictions programs at agency, community-based, and trade organization gatherings and in contacts with federal, state, and local funding, licensing, and regulatory sources.
• Provide clinical oversight and support to Clinical Directors as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements for the position:

• A master's degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field: clinical psychology, education-counseling, medicine, mental health, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, or social work.
• At least five years of supervised substance use disorder counseling experience.
• Licensure as a LADC I, LMHC, LICSW or other independent license.
• At least three (3) years of full time equivalent clinical supervisory experience.
• At least ten (10) years' experience in program or department management, including direct staff supervision, budget preparation and management, with at least two years in the non-profit behavioral health field, and demonstrated advanced skills in ensuring fiscal sustainability of services.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Substance Use Disorders system of care and related continuum of prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery support networks.
• A thorough understanding of Substance Use Disorders and co-occurring diagnoses, and a familiarity with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal funding sources for substance use disorder treatment programs.
• Demonstrated clinical and professional writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Intermediate proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
• Demonstrated commitment to a sustained effort to seek out, acknowledge, and respect the diverse voices of all stakeholders and to advance inclusivity through every function of the role and the agency as a whole.
• COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the position. One COVID-19 shot is acceptable, contingent on the individual receiving the second shot within the allotted time frame.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing detection and interpretation of information on documents, monitors, and labels and accompanying response, as well as to identification of equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interaction with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors requiring the employee to communicate, as well as detect and interpret information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, occasionally during emergency situations.
• Frequent communication of accurate information, instructions, and ideas so others will understand.
• Operation of complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent phone and computer use for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, etc.
• Bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment up to twenty (20) pounds.
• Frequent movement throughout the unit to access, obtain, or distribute supplies (sometimes pushing or pulling equipment), interact with patients, assist in the transport of patients, etc.
• Undertake lifesaving efforts by conducting CPR via the provision of chest compressions and rescue breathing as needed until relieved by medical professionals.
• Remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time as needed.
