We are seeking a Senior Director, Innovation in Care to join us in the greater Washington, DC metro area (US) or Cambridge (UK)!

The Senior Director, Innovation in Care is a new position with a focus on developing the global medical innovation in care strategy and plan and will report to the Head of Medical Strategy & Innovation in our Oncology Business Unit (OBU). This role will have strong impact in defining an ambitious future focused strategy team to transform patient care.

What You'll Do:

  • Craft and deliver the innovation strategy, advising novel technology priorities, external partnerships and business investment opportunities, ensuring AZ is the best place to respond to the constantly evolving patient care environment
  • Lead the Oncology Medical Organization on research and evaluation of leading trends and developments in respect to care solutions and initiatives passionate about patient care, novel health technologies, and new care solutions
  • Build an understanding of in market needs/opportunities and innovation ecosystems to ensure Medical is partnering and optimizing enterprise solutions, supporting and connecting with in market initiatives.
  • Translate and align pivotal initiatives across OBU with a Medical/Innovation in care focus, ensuring strong Medical leadership and/or representation
  • Lead competitive intelligence reviews understanding the evolution of the external innovation in care environment, outstanding resources and practices to enable the transformation of OBU Medical practices and delivery for patients
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and communication, crafting positive relationships and identifying future opportunities for business investment
  • Contribute to the broader Oncology strategy across Medical, R&D and Commercial to find opportunities and alliances and represent Global Medical as required with senior partners and governance committees

Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least 6 years of senior or specialized experience within pharma/life sciences and/or medical experience (e.g. significant clinical/academic/medical affairs agency roles/organizations)
  • Advanced Scientific degree (PhD, PharmD) or equivalent medical/scientific/industry qualifications
  • Experience and ability to influence strategically and persuade tactfully, to acquire desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive organization relationships
  • Demonstrated experience to lead and provide strategic leadership across functional working groups and teams within a complex matrix organization
  • Proven experience of developing strategy and translating strategy into action plans
  • Experience and strong ability to evaluate, interpret and present highly complex data for a series of studies

Preferred Qualifications
  • MD degree
  • Experience crafting and implementing Global/Regional, Tumor and/or asset Medical Strategies
  • Experience of leading large scale, complex transformation and projects
  • Experience of applying digital components as catalyst for change and digital solutions to manage and interpret "big data"
