Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to provide U.S. Government contracts support under assigned projects to ensure compliance with provisions and clauses of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), agency FAR supplements, and other contractual terms and conditions.

This is an essential role in contract planning and strategy for negotiating, administering, resolving contractual issues, and closing out actions for all Government contracts. This individual will communicate contract policy and procedures and best practice to internal business groupings along with ensuring contract review, approval, and execution occurs in accordance with business guidance and policies; coordinate and communicate with clients, technical and legal consultants, and project team staff; and research and recommend actions and issue resolutions related to contractual disputes and contractual terms and conditions. The successful candidate will have a strong background in government contracts and understanding of complex engineering, construction and environmental consultancy contracting; solid proficiency in managing various contract types, including firm-fixed-price, time-and-materials, and cost reimbursable and development contracts as defined in the FAR; and an understanding of international contracts and U.S. export regulations. The duties will entail risk assessment; contract review and negotiations; contract administration; managing surety bonds and project-specific insurance; advising on contract changes; identifying, coordinating, and drafting requests for equitable adjustment and claims; dispute resolution; and reviewing and negotiating teaming agreements, confidentiality agreements, and joint venture agreements.

Work Location: Open to any Wood office in the U.S. and/or remotely based. Preference would be the potential candidate sit in a Wood office.

Skills / Qualifications

  • 8+ years' experience working in government contracts for the U.S. Government and/or a prime or subcontractor
  • Four-year bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university, with a graduate degree in business or law a plus
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and positively, and have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of contract law and formation
  • Demonstrated ability to take lead role in routine contractual matters
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to appropriately respond to a variety of non-routine, and often complex, requests and demands
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the FAR, Defense FAR Supplement, and other agency specific supplements
  • Expertise in government contract negotiation and administration, including administration of subcontract flow downs, change management, inspection, acceptance, payment, warranty, closeout, and records retention
  • Practical and proactive problem-solving skills
  • Critical thinker with ability to partner with project teams and operations managers globally
  • Ability to work independently, in team settings, and under time pressured deadlines
  • Highest ethical standards, confidence, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and changing business environment
  • Demonstrated history of effectively managing and mitigating changes and claims through the negotiations and/or dispute resolution processes
  • Proficient computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with forming and operating joint ventures is highly desirable
