The Senior CNC Programmer will program, set up and operate CNC Machinery for prototype parts as well as supporting day to day production. This person will assist the Machine Shop engineering team with prove outs, troubleshooting machines, supporting operators, identifying tooling, and inspecting parts. In this role, they will have a focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity. The position reports into the Machine Shop Supervisor, works during first shift and may have voluntary overtime. It includes the opportunity to select health insurance and sign up for a 401k. The position is in our climate-controlled building in West Chester, PA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Along with the identified above, other duties may be included but not limited to:

  • Manual programming of M and G Code
  • Program using MasterCam
  • Set-up and operate a combination of the following:
    • 3 axis mills
    • 4 axis lathes
    • Multi axis Swiss
  • Inspect own and others work using various inspection equipment
  • Assist operators in troubleshooting machines and programs as needed
  • Train others in machine operation, set-up, and troubleshooting
  • Creating new programs for prototypes and production parts


Job Requirements
Critical Competencies
  • Setup and operate machinery unassisted
  • Read and understand prints and standard SOP's
  • Read and edit G and M code
  • Understand macro programming
  • Review program code and make edits
  • Create programs from existing and similar part programs
  • Create programs from scratch for new parts
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Inspect own work and that of others using various inspection equipment including but not limited to:
    • Height Stands
    • Micrometers
    • Calipers
    • Indicators
    • Optical comparators
    • Plug and Ring gages
    • Thread gages


Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing setting
  • Associate degree in CNC programming, a computer-related or a mechanical field
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and programming application
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of materials and tool geometries
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance


Physical Environment
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, lifting, and reaching
