Position: Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets

The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets opportunity, you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or another closely related field.
  • 2 to 3 years of accounting experience; familiarity with fixed asset accounting is strongly preferred, and real estate industry experience would be ideal.
  • Experience with monthly close efforts such as preparing adjusting entries, subledger reconciliations, and other relevant tasks.
  • The ability to research, analyze and interpret accounting data and perform quantitative analyses.
  • Strong computer abilities, including:
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook, and intermediate skills in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
    • Experience with ERP/accounting platforms, preferably with Oracle and/or Yardi.
  • Solid organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where deadlines are tight, and priorities evolve.
  • A detail orientation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Fixed Asset Accounting, in you will invest your time in two key responsibilities:
  • Maintaining fixed asset subledgers in Oracle and Yardi, including creating, transferring and disposing of assets.
  • Performing reconciliations via Excel.
In addition, you will:
  • Help ensure fixed asset and inventory accounting operations comply with company policy and controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
  • Support timely and accurate execution of month-end close activities.
  • Help research and address out-of-balance conditions between fixed asset and inventory subledgers and general ledger.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and confirm accuracy of data.
  • Contribute to periodic inventory and fixed asset reporting and analyses for management.
  • Support internal and external audits as requested.
  • Keep a constant eye out for ways to streamline fixed asset and inventory accounting practices and improve reporting accuracy.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.
