Position Overview

The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting role is a key team member responsible for external financial reporting. This position is responsible for the planning and execution of monthly, quarterly and annual external financial reporting including preparing financial statements and supporting notes for SEC filings. As an SEC registrant, Novelis is required to file consolidated financial statements with the SEC on a quarterly (Form 10-Q) and annual (Form 10-K) basis under U.S. GAAP. This role will have exposure to IFRS through quarterly reporting to our parent company, Hindalco. Additionally, this role has visibility to and interaction with senior leadership through preparation of Audit Committee materials.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for external use including preparing financial statements and supporting notes for SEC filings (Form 10-K and 10-Q). Ensuring all disclosures in the company's financial statements are accurate and properly supported
  • Perform XBRL tagging of the financial statements
  • Partner with other finance groups; treasury, tax, legal, investor relations and financial planning to obtain appropriate information to complete regulatory filings
  • Identify and improve our existing financial reporting and close processes
  • Keeping up to date with the latest regulatory accounting disclosure requirements.
  • Prepare audit disclosure checklist to ensure financial statements are accurate and complete
  • Participates in the evaluation and determination of significant and complex transactions and how the financial statements and disclosures will be impacted
  • Responsible for documenting and maintaining SOX related documentation related to areas of responsibility
  • Support the Treasury Department through the preparation of debt covenant compliance calculations
  • Prepare other regulatory filings, as necessary
  • Assist the external auditors with their review/audit procedures over financial reporting
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis

Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • CPA designation or CPA candidate
  • Big 4 or prior SEC reporting experience preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP
  • Technical accounting policy aptitude required; ability to research accounting issues and communicate the resolution and impact through written documentation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines
  • Organizational skills and proven ability to work independently
  • Highly motivated individual, self-starter that takes ownership of projects and tasks
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Advanced Excel Knowledge preferred
  • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and WDesk/Workiva is a plus
