Position Summary

The Carlyle Group seeks an Information Technology professional with a proven track-record as a Project Manager and Scrum Master across an entire IT Program. The Program for this role is Carlyle's Human Capital Management (HCM) technology team. The individual will be responsible for working with stakeholders to understand their needs and help lead a team to successfully implement IT solutions and capabilities in support of the Human Capital Management portfolio. This position will coordinate Agile teams in the following practices - sprint planning, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, Scrum stand-up meetings, velocity, capacity planning, and retrospectives. Other responsibilities will include coordinating work and dependencies across multiple Scrum teams, communicating status to stakeholders and the executive steering committee, managing budgets and forecasts, and serving as Scrum Master for the HCM value streams.

Candidate must be an experienced Scrum Master with experience organizing work across multiple stakeholders, projects, and value streams. Candidate must also be highly organized and a creative thinker, who has the ability to synthesize complex ideas and communicate these clearly to a variety of stakeholder groups as well as a strong track record with delivering technology projects in an Agile capacity.

The Scrum Master will work directly with the HCM GTS lead, Agile team members, and Product Owner to understand and implement solutions that create value for Carlyle HCM business partners.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead teams using Scrum and Kanban project methodologies in the Human Capital Management space
  • Work directly with vertical team members and clients on activities that include: release planning, value stream mapping, sprint planning, backlog grooming/prioritization, requirements analysis, test planning, acceptance criteria identification, demos, agile metric reporting, production support
  • Serve as lead role in tracking vertical related costs and budgets, and prepare project/program related reports (i.e., portfolio reports, weekly program status reports, budget reports, agile metrics etc.)
  • Ensure that all agile-related processes and standards are being adhered to within the team, continually improve agile processes, work with Agile Community of Practice to share ideas


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, required
  • Concentration in Information Systems, Computer Science, strongly preferred
  • Certified Scrum Master, strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience using Agile or other project management methodologies, required
  • 3+ years of experience using Agile methods, strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of experience preferred in software development, development management and/or project management, strongly preferred
  • Deep experience with Scrum and Kanban frameworks required
  • Experience with reporting on agile metrics including velocity, capacity, burn down charts
  • Very strong experience leading agile ceremonies including: daily stand-ups, planning meetings, backlog refinement, retrospectives, story pointing, story creation, acceptance criteria
  • Experience with Agile business analysis, including documentation of user stories and test requirements, and process documentation, preferred
  • Experience as a project manager for strategic projects that involve multiple work streams and development teams
  • Experience in production support, ability to troubleshoot issues and escalate as needed preferred
  • Strong skills in managing expectations across a diverse and broad list of stakeholders
  • Ability to identify approaches, risks, mitigation strategies to meet client/functional requirements
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Dedicated to exemplary customer service
  • Certified Scrum Master, or Certified Scrum Practitioner, required
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) knowledge required
  • Experience with business process mapping, preferred
  • Experience working with Agile software project management tools, such as JIRA, Confluence preferred
  • Experience in a customer facing role supporting a diverse set of business owners including Product Owner, Subject Matter Experts, and users
  • Experience supporting customer-facing web applications, SaaS solutions, and custom solutions preferred
  • Financial services industry experience preferred
  • Functional knowledge and experience with compensation, benefits, payroll, carried interest, stock plan preferred
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills
