We are seeking a Scientist to provide services in support of the overall functions of the Laboratory of Immunogenetics (LIG), Molecular Pathology Section (MPS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of procedures and molecular biology techniques, including RNA, DNA, and protein isolation and purification, qRT-PCR and qPCR, cell culture, DNA sequencing, Western and Southern blots, flow cytometry, gene cloning, protein analysis, gel-shifts, stable transfections and infections of primary cell culture.
  • Perform multiple next-generation sequencing (as RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, MNase-seq, ChIA-PET-seq, and Hi-C) and bioinformatics data analysis.
  • Responsible for laboratory upkeep and routine maintenance of equipment. Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment including chemicals, biological materials, etc. required to handle biological materials, carcinogens, recombinant protein materials, acids, biological wastes, etc. Help with maintaining and organizing inventory of samples and metadata, and with managing inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents. Liaise with vendors as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments and their results and prepare the information resulting from these experiments for presentations at laboratory-wide meetings and for publication.
  • Assist principal investigator in research project management, manuscript preparation, experimental design. Independently develop, plan, and implement research studies.
  • Assist in management of technical and scientific operations of a genomics research group to achieve project goals.
  • Write reports of findings, start methods and procedures, include any modifications employed, specimens and materials involved and results of experiments.
  • Operate and communicate effectively in a group, team-oriented working environment. Work with and support others in a collegial, open, respectful, and interactive working manner. Work collaboratively with others in the lab to generate data for publications.
  • Assist with the analysis and interpretation of data and preparing summaries of laboratory findings to be used in reports and papers to be presented at scientific meetings and/or publication in scientific journals.


Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in genetics, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology or in related disciplines with 2-8 years of post-doctorate experience in the corresponding fields.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated in a team environment.
  • Candidates should have knowledge and experience in molecular biology, oncogenesis, spermatogenesis, and embryonic development.
  • Ability to write up a draft manuscript and to prepare figures proven by a prior publication list with the first or last authorship.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, initiative, and an ability for multi-tasking.
