Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of experience in clinical or pharmaceutical development with directly related medical writing experience.

Job Summary

The overall function of the Scientific Writer is to assist the laboratory Principal Investigator (PI) and trainees in the editing and proofing of scientific documents related to the laboratory's research.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the PI with editing and proofing grant submissions, and novice grant writers in the laboratory with overall grantsmanship and grant design. Keep up-to-date on NIH grant submission policies.
  • Edit laboratory manuscripts; assist with reference databases, and assist in interactions with scientific journals and editors.
  • Assist with preparation of figures for grants, manuscripts, and data presentations.
  • Edit grant proposals and manuscripts for overall logic; smooth transitions; clarity and accuracy; consistency (including between figures, figure leaders, and text); and correctness of English phrasing, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Shift/Salary

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
