WSFS Bank is currently seeking an SBA Senior Underwriter. The SBA Senior Underwriter is responsible for underwriting business purpose loans of $5 million or less under the 7(a) program and according to bank lending policy, ensuring the Bank’s standard of quality and procedures are met. This team member will review, analyze and render decisions for customer applications for SBA 7(a) loans as per current SOP requirements and prepare annual reviews for existing SBA borrowers.

In addition, this position will review personal and business credit bureau information, Dun and Bradstreet, etc. as well as review financial statements, personal and corporate tax returns and calculate financial ratios/complete financial analysis to assist in assessing creditworthiness of an applicant. The SBA Underwriter will make credit decisions, document the file and system fully to ensure the bank is in compliance with regulatory requirements. The incumbent will also obtain the appropriate approvals on requests outside of assigned credit authority as well as document the appropriate denial information to ensure the accurate preparation of all denial letters. This role will also be expected to partner with other internal groups to effectively and efficiently process loans.

This is a full-time position typically working Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, EST in the Philadelphia, PA office, remote working considered outside of the Philadelphia tri-state area.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Must have 2-4 years of credit review experience, preferably underwriting SBA loans.
• Must possess a strong background reviewing personal and business financial statements, with proven ability to render sound credit decision on own authority.
• A strong understanding of SBA SOP is preferred.
• Must have a strong knowledge in business credit underwriting and analysis, including the review and interpretation of client financial statements and tax returns, review and understanding of data in both personal and business bureaus and a familiarization with Dun & Bradstreet.
• Proficiency in Excel is required.
• Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills to interact with both internal and external customers.
• Must have strong PC spreadsheet skills and excellent analytical skills.
• This position requires independent thinking in collaboration with other professionals to address financial issues.
• Must have thorough knowledge of credit and regulatory policy.
