Position Summary:
The Security & Customer Service Manager reports directly to the Assistant Director of Multi-Use Facilities. This position is responsible for implementing university and department policies and procedures directly related to safely operating multi-use facilities on a day to day and event operations basis. Responsibilities include the staffing and implementation of metal detectors and the enforcement of clear bag policies, staffing of ushers and other event related security staff as well as day to day access management of multi-use facilities. This position strives to continuously seek opportunities for improvement related to patron and staff safety at events held within multi-use facilities. Work schedule is Monday through Friday (may vary weekly due to major events).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Verifiable experience with:

  • Event safety and security operations and best practices.



  • Event security screening practices (i.e., metal detection, clear bag screening, etc.)

  • Evaluating event safety and security needs based upon potential safety and security risk factors and identify/implement solutions.




Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in public safety, organizational training/leadership, etc.



  • Experience operating, programing and maintaining metal detectors.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multitude of stake holders with conflicting interests and goals.

  • Ability to establish, document and implement training programs and policy/procedure.




Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move items weighing approximately 50 lbs., bending, stooping, shoveling, and comfortable working at significant heights.
