Safety Representative

The responsibilities of Safety Representatives in this area of the overall corporate operation includes reviewing and monitoring safety policies, programs and manuals, establishing safety training procedures, monitoring compliance with the corporate safety programs, OSHA, and various other regulatory agency and owner requirements, and liaison/interaction with OSHA, state and Local regulatory agencies, owner and industry representatives.

Work experience in this area of the overall corporate safety operation includes:

  • Review Corporate Safety Program and developments in safety and health regulatory requirements. Make recommendations for updating safety policies, programs and manuals, to maintain compliance with existing governmental, OSHA, and various other regulatory agency and owner requirements regulations. Adapt programs to further policies approved by the Corporate Safety committee;
  • Establishing and implementing safety training procedures, so that all supervisory personnel receive 30 hours safety training in OSHA Construction Safety Standards;
  • Monitor certifications of SCHIAVONE safety personnel to assure maintenance of fundamental requirements for our projects and corporate policy;
  • Monitoring of exposure monitoring programs (instrumentation, consultants & procedures) for worker protection against toxics and contaminants;
  • Liaison/interaction with OSHA, state & local regulatory agencies, owner and industry representatives. Maintain relationship with insurance carrier Loss Control representatives.
  • Monitor worker compensation claim activity to identify trends which are developing and should be addressed. Assist Risk management staff in securing information for the settlement of claims.
  • Report to SCHIAVONE Executive Committee and/or the Safety Subcommittee with respect to loss data and trends, with recommendations as to improvement.
  • Monitoring compliance with SCHIAVONE's Environmental Management Program and implementation oversight by project safety and management personnel. Maintain liaison with our Environmental consultant.

  • COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION
    SCHIAVONE's membership in local contractor associations has resulted in substantial levels of participation on the Safety & Health committees. Participation on these committees is necessary in order to respond to our position in the industry.

    EXPERIENCE
    3+ years construction experience
    Familiar with the MTA, DEP, DOT
