Job Summary:

The Safety Monitor promotes leadership and helps support the Bay Cove mission and addresses community concerns in a proactive and professional manner. Welcomes clients, Staff and Guest to Bay Cove Human services by providing a positive, professional and respectful presence at all times. Serves as a community diplomat and represents Bay Cove Human Services as a good neighbor and responsive community partner. It is your job as safety Security monitor to support our mission in your day-to-day responsibilities as indicated below. This is a non-exempt position

Essential Functions of Position:


The Boston Night Center (BNC) Safety monitor promotes leadership and helps supports the Bay Cove mission and addresses community concerns in a proactive and professional manner.

•Welcomes clients, staff and guests to the BNC by providing a positive, professional and respectful presence at all times.

•Serves as a community diplomat and represents the BNC as a good neighbor and responsive community partner. Works assigned scheduled and follows all Bay Cove Human services policies.

•Ensures that BNC guests are respectfully, safely and efficiently facilitated access to the entrance of the BNC to be searched with safety wand before they are allowed to check in, personal bags, back packs, luggage are tagged.

•Maintains the entrance and parking lot of the BNC as well as stairways and hallways to ensure it remains clear of people who are loitering or disruptive, ensuring a calm environment on the sidewalk and within the street, and providing ample room for pedestrians to pass.

•Intervenes in crisis situations using good judgment, communication skills, de-escalation techniques, and calling upon emergency services as needed.

•Must be able to work all shifts including weekend and Holidays as scheduled.

Attend required training and meetings. Demonstrates dependability and reliability. Communicates in real-time with Program Director of the BNC, and the internal Staff.

•Completes and submits to the Director of Safety and Security and the Director of the BNC Bay Cove incident reports in a timely manner for any incidents that indicates a Safety Breach

•Must be able to work with a diverse population in a respectful, compassionate and supportive manner.

  • Professional Qualifications:
  • The ability to communicate effectively with clientele and staff
  • Maintaining proper boundaries with clientele
  • Experience in human services work strongly preferred
Personal Qualifications:
  • Good organization and communication skills
  • Reliable
  • Calm demeanor
  • Must be responsible and flexible
  • A COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the position. One COVID-19 shot is acceptable, contingent on the individual receiving the second shot within the allotted time frame.
