Job Summary

This position is responsible for the administration and maintenance of all safety, and OSHA documentation. The position will consist of partnering with employees and management staff to communicate various safety policies, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the site's safety program
  • Maintain all required OSHA documentation
  • Maintain and adhere to the site safety procedures
  • Receive and maintain full current OSHA training
  • Maintain safety records and prepare monthly safety reports
  • Prepare and assist in the preparation and submittal of permit applications to the proper regulatory agencies
  • Order and maintain personal protective equipment and first aid supplies
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding plant safety and drug programs
  • Provide support to site management in developing and implementing new programs
  • Enter and maintain data in the software used on site for data and recordkeeping
  • Generate work orders
  • Coordinate and follow-up with the plant Maintenance Supervisor to make sure all Maintenance CAP work orders are completed or scheduled
  • Create and maintain purchase orders as needed
  • Maintain working knowledge of new technologies developed by the industry and government regulations
  • Inspect work environment, machinery and equipment in establishments and other work sites conformance with governmental standards
  • Interviews supervisors and employees to obtain facts about work practice or accidents
  • Rate unsafe conditions according to determined factors
  • Observe employees and determine compliance with safety precautions and safety equipment used
  • Order suspension of activities posing threat to workers
  • Write safety order proposal to protect workers from all hazards not previously covered
  • Maintain log of reportable accidents and preventive actions taken
  • Ensure monthly inspections and weekly meetings are completed each month
  • Maintain updated safety binders and OSHA recordkeeping compliance
  • Maintain air permit compliance
  • Assist with dispatch duties when needed
  • Assist sales team in sample collection when needed
  • Assist with quality control duties when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent in academic background and experience or training
  • Previous office experience required - at least 1 year preferred
  • Experience maintaining annual OSHA Compliance
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing employee safety programs
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment
  • Detail-oriented with a dedication to continuous improvement and team building
  • Verbal, written communications and presentations skills
  • Ability to work with other company administrative, production and technical personnel at all levels to achieve plant and corporate goals
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
