Responsible for leading the writing, editing and structuring of content of sponsored research proposals and institute publications in collaboration with faculty and staff research teams in the Institute for Cyber Physical Infrastructure and Energy (I-CPIE). This person will coordinate campus and external outreach initiatives for proposals, support the proposal development process, produce social media and website content. There will be opportunities to provide support for Lehigh's other Interdisciplinary Research Institutes. 1. Technical writing of team research proposals and institute publications in support of institute initiatives and programs
*Support Interdisciplinary Research Institute's (IRI) faculty and researchers in drafting technical content for multi-disciplinary and multi-investigator initiatives
*Provide support to faculty to turn ideas into effective articles, reports and proposals
*Work with faculty to develop, write, and edit technical content, including, but not limited to, technical approach
*Critical review and editing of proposal content for structure, completeness, accuracy, consistency and appropriateness of content, as well as grammar and readability
*Enhance technical content through incorporation of visual content, such as graphs, illustrations or images
*Develop or refine organizational boilerplate materials and develop new content to assist faculty in proposal writing

2. Coordinate IRI campus and external outreach initiatives for team proposals
*Attend and participate in initiative team meetings
*Develop networks with faculty and other University researchers in identified initiative areas
*Create and maintain distribution networks for potential funding opportunities for faculty
*Draft technical content in support of identified initiatives

3. Support proposal development process
*Develop and maintain a standardized IRI proposal development process
*Help organize team workflow and tasks during the proposal development process
*Serve as liaison between faculty and staff researchers, and Lehigh University's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) during the proposal development process
*Review call for proposals for identification of proposal deliverables and key dates
*Work in conjunction with ORSP Contract and Grant Specialists to manage proposal content for timely submittals and compliance to sponsor requirements

4. Develop website and social-media content
*Compose IRI-related content for communication and marketing efforts
*Work with the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering & Applied Science Communication and Marketing Team to disseminate materials on websites, through newsletters, via social media, etc.

Grade: 9-40Position Number: S99640Special ConsiderationsThe duties of the position do not allow for a remote work option; the employee in this position will be required to work on campus where they can be fully accessible to the Lehigh communityThis position is funded by soft dollars; there is no severance associated with this positionQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experienceThree to five years of related experience with technical writingA journalism or communications professional with experience writing in a science or engineering field would also be consideredExperience planning, writing and coordinating proposals to federal, state, or private funding sources is a plusThis position requires a high-energy, self-starter who is responsive and flexible to work multiple projects with tight deadlinesAbility to facilitate proposal development by faculty teams with diverse backgrounds and experience across departmental, disciplinary and institutional boundariesExcellent organizational skills, time management and sound judgment Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint or other graphic softwareSuccessful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the positionBecause of increasing COVID case counts in the region and new information about the characteristics of the Delta variant, all Lehigh faculty and staff will be required to be fully vaccinated unless they receive an approved medical or religious exemption from the requirement.Only complete applications will be considered therefore please complete the application in its entirety.
