Research Program Coordinator
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is currently seeking a Research Program Coordinator to work on the implementation of a study. The study focuses on neuromuscular diseases and the difficulties patients and their spouses/caregivers have with swallowing and communication. The position will involve regulatory (i.e., IRB, FDA) documents and submissions, study enrollment, participant assessment/interaction, data collection, and data analysis across 2 study sites.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for the coordination of 2 study sites.
  • The largest responsibilities will include participant coordination (scheduling, sending reminders, troubleshooting technical issues), creation and regular tracking of enrollment metrics (e.g., inclusion/exclusion logs, consent rates), facilitation of focus groups and interviews, and help coordinate and execute consent, enrollment, and data collection.
  • Create the case report forms (CRFs) and perform all data collection from the electronic medical record and transcribe all interviews.
  • Create and manage the database using REDCap and complete all data entry from all CRFs, and participate in the data quality assurance processes (including data review, data queries, and data cleaning).
  • Coordinate ordering research supplies.
  • Prepare IRB submissions and regulatory submissions to CERSI/FDA.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline such as Public Health or Epidemiology, with some related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*


* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree or 3 years of professional experience in Healthcare Systems, Healthcare Research, or working as a Research Coordinator.
  • Project management, and qualitative and quantitative data collection experience.
  • Experience with human subject or patient-related research.


Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficiency with MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Qualitative analysis skills.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of REDCap.


Classified Title: Research Program Coordinator
Role/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/03/CD
Starting Salary Range: $16.42 - $22.57/hr (commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
