Research/Field Coordinator
The Department of Research Administration is seeking a Research/Field Coordinator who will work under the general direction of a Principal Investigator (PI), provide overall coordination of PI's research projects (research to promote health in older adults), field coordination of data collection activities, and staff supervision.

This role will participate in developing research designs, data collection methods, strategies for data management, and bio-specimen procurement. Assists with monitoring reports for funding agencies. Leads community-based recruitment of human subjects and manages data collection processes.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify, recruit, screen and consent participants in to research studies.
  • Oversee and conduct data collection per study protocol.
  • Assist with implementing research protocol including contacting the participants, collecting data (questionnaire, actigraph, activity monitor, blood, and computer based cognitive test), scheduling follow-up data study visit, and updating and monitoring intervention progress.
  • Conduct study visit at participants' homes.
  • Coordinate with the exercise trainer to do plan and conduct the in-person exercise session.
  • Assist in actigraph and cognitive function data analysis and report (training will be provided).
  • Assist with data entry and data management.
  • Participate in developing interim reports for principal investigators, funding agencies, and institutional review board to ensure that the project is moving toward timely completion. Assist with IRB correspondence.
  • Monitor study progress and develop reports on study progress
  • Organize and attend regular research team meeting
  • Assist with hiring and training of research team. Develop training materials; coordinate training delivery; assure training and compliance of staff over life of project.
  • Schedule, supervise, and provide feedback to other data collectors and ensure protocol adherence by data collectors.
  • Assist in refining research designs, data collection methods and strategies for data management.
  • Report irregularities or adverse events to appropriate study personnel.
  • Makes referrals to support resources per study protocol
  • Procurement and supply management and tracking
  • Assist with other research related activities as assigned by PI.


Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline with some related experience, preferably experience working in East and West Baltimore communities.
  • Additional experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with older adults.
  • Training in exercise physiology /exercise science Training in phlebotomy.

Starting Salary Range: $16.42 - $22.57/hr (commensurate with experience)

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
