Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Image Guided Neurosurgery Laboratory

Department of Neurosurgery, Brigham and Women's Hospital

The Image Guided Neurosurgery Laboratory at Brigham and Women's Hospital is seeking a full-time postdoctoral research fellow to join our team. We use multimodal brain imaging techniques to map critical brain areas for surgical planning and guidance. In addition, we are interested in brain connectivity studies to understand neural mechanism of disease pathophysiology as well as treatment-induced cognitive impairments in patients with neurological disorders. The goals are to improve clinical management and patients' overall well-being.

The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of neuroscientists, computational scientists, and clinicians, and have access to our state-of-the-art research facilities, including 3T and 7T MRI scanners, and high-performance computing facilities for large-scale machine learning studies. The postdoctoral fellow will perform MRI data processing, functional and structural connectivity analyses, and machine learning studies. This position will prepare the fellow for a role in academia, translational research in hospital, or industrial setting.

The ideal starting date is before the end of 2021; strong candidates with later starting date will also be considered.

Qualifications
Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. degree in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science, or related disciplines
  • Experience analyzing MRI data (structural, functional, or diffusion MRI)
  • Computational and programming skills with experience in signal/image processing and machine learning techniques
  • Strong writing, analytic, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including strong communication and management skills

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with functional and/or structural connectivity analyses
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience in grant writing and presentation of research findings
  • Knowledge of neurocognition including language, memory, and emotion processing
  • Experience with human subjects studies
