The Role:

Moderna is seeking a Research Associate based at its Cambridge, MA site. The individual in this role will support platform discovery programs by developing and executing bioanalytical assays and interfacing with internal and external partnerships (partners, CROs). This position will contribute to the nonclinical team through bioassay development and relevant samples testing. The individual will work with scientists within the discovery Bioanalytics team and broader nonclinical group as well as other functional groups to ensure the highest level of quality of these assays. The successful candidate will have experience in assay development specifically hands on experiences in ELISA, MSD, qPCR or other relevant techniques.

Here's What You Will Do:

  • Undertake bioanalytical testing to quantify mRNA, LNPs, proteins, nucleic acid using established methods to generate high quality data to support internal studies.
  • Perform assays as per the guidance provided.
  • Assist in assay fit for purpose assay qualification as needed.
  • Provide summary presentations and detailed reports to internal and external stake holders.
  • Work with colleagues in Discovery Bioanalytics and Non-clinical sciences and help perform quantitative methods (ELISA, MSD, bDNA, qPCR and others) and immunogenicity assays as needed.
  • Generate, analyze, interpret, and present high quality, timely experimental data to the team. Ensure that data generated internally and externally are scientifically rigorous, in line with study design, regulatory expectations and follows industry's best practice.

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • BS or MS in biology, immunology, pharmacology, biochemistry, or a related field
  • Knowledge of biochemistry, drug development, pharmacology and regulatory a plus
  • Proven hands-on laboratory skills and techniques
  • Preferred: Familiar with assay qualification/validation guidelines from regulatory agencies and statistical analysis
  • Ability to troubleshoot assays
  • Exceptional written and oral communication
  • Preferred: hands on experience with ELISA, MSD, qPCR, hybridization-based assays, cell culture and/or biochemical techniques
  • Ability to collaborate to accomplish goals in a timely manner
