About the Position:

The Research Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of an NIH-funded in clinical neuroscience. Tasks will include patient screening and recruitment, scheduling, patient assessments, team coordination, work with data bases, and general secretarial duties. Prior experience with study coordination in psychology and/or the neurosciences is preferable. The study is a collaboration with teams at University of Texas at Dallas and UTSW. The position is 100% NIH grant funded and dependent on renewals.

Essential Functions:

  • Recruitment of, establishing and maintaining rapport with, clinical and healthy populations. Participation in data analysis and writing up reports for publication.
  • Completes patient assessments, material preparation, data entry and checking.
  • Performs standard research protocols in the service of experiments and or experimental studies. Conducts research with human participants in research, adhering to disciplinary standards and ethical guidelines regarding such research.
  • Schedules assessments and team meetings; coordinates with study staff, undergraduate and graduate students, and investigators; compiles progress and adverse event reports.
  • General administrative office duties, including ordering of supplies, IRB applications and renewals, and archiving.
  • Trains and supervises undergraduate research students in routine tasks.
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree is required. A Bachelor's degree in Psychology or the neurosciences is preferred.

Prior experience of work as a research assistant or study coordinator, and experience with administration of human subject research is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

Intermediate level skills in SPSS is preferred.
