RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Position: Research Assistant

Department: Data Management and Analytics

Subdivision: Institutional Effectiveness

Division: Academic Affairs

Note: Full-time, Grant Funded.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, the Research Assistant will investigate primary sources; prepare and publish datasets via the Internet and Intranet; contribute to the research and reporting of institutional data to external agencies; formulate statistical charts, tables, and graphs using a variety of computer software application programs; maintain and manage databases relating to the University's participation in national surveys and tests; support the design and administration of surveys, focus groups, and other data collection efforts; utilize descriptive, inferential, and multivariate statistics to analyze data; liaise between IE and IT units; and perform a variety of administrative and budget management tasks in support of sub-divisional functions.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree with concentration in quantitative research methods, statistics, social science, education, or a related field is required. Experience in assessment, evaluation methodology, and institutional effectiveness activities are preferred. Also preferred is basic knowledge of statistical tools such as SPSS, and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and other application software is required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Candidates must demonstrate excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and writing skills; as well as, the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Candidates must be able to work effectively under time constraints and meet multiple deadlines. The ability to present information in a user-friendly manner is also important.
