What will you be doing?

Role Summary:

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions (WTS) compliance with North America food contact regulations such as U.S. FDA/GRAS clearances as well as Canada Feed Inspection Agency and Health Canada requirements for company products. The role reports directly to the Global Regulatory Leader and is highly collaborative as we expand our product line offering in this space.

What you will be doing?

• Acquire in-depth product knowledge of SUEZ WTS products requiring food contact related clearances to ensure business and customer compliance while addressing related questions from internal partners

• Evaluate chemistry and application for U.S. FDA 21 CFR clearance as well as Animal or Human GRAS clearance
• Maintain existing and support new FDA Food Contact Notifications (FCN)
• Provide appropriate Allergen, Food Grade, and GMO Certification, Continuing Food Guarantee via SUEZ WTS Letter Tools to support customer requests
• Represent regulatory in cross-functional teams to provide strategic regulatory compliance advice working closely with Product Management, Technology, Product Applications, Quality, Sourcing and Commercial Teams
• Review new and existing products, ensuring compliance with FDA, CFIA, and other regions who have need to comply with FDA FSMA (e.g. LATAM, EU)
• Review changes to compositions and raw materials to determine the impact on current food contact clearances
• Ensure SDS, labels and other regulatory documents are maintained with appropriate food clearance information and requirements
• Research, monitor and provide recommendations on emerging topics as they relate to food clearance for SUEZ WTS products
• Identify tools, process improvements, along with new policies and training to ensure compliance with FDA, CFIA and all food contact regulatory guidelines
• Work closely with legal staff and/or contracted regulatory consulting companies and external service providers

Who are we looking for?

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology or related scientific discipline from an accredited college or university

• 5+ years of experience in FDA/food clearance product stewardship/regulatory compliance expertise

What are we looking for?

• Comprehension and demonstrated application of procedures/processes used for the approval of food contact applications in the US and/or Canada; other geographies are a plus.

• Hands-on product stewardship/ regulatory compliance experience in clearances for Food Contact Notifications or CFIA dossier preparation
• Experience in all stages of project / program management, from idealization to confirmation
