Job Description

The Radiochemistry Instrumentation Specialist will usegeneral laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins TestAmerica's Quality Assurance programs and SOP's.

This position isMonday- Friday and can be the hours of 10:00am-6:00pm, 12:00pm- 8:00pm or 2:00pm-10:00pm. Based on the needs of the lab at time of application.Overtime as needed. Must live a commutable distance to our Earth City, MO lab.

Position summary: Responsible for scheduling and prioritizing work tasks, training, problem solving, following procedures and methods, reviewing data in addition to making recommendations to laboratory management in regard to process improvements. General understanding of radiochemistry principles. Assists the department manager as a technical resource.

Knowledgeable of a broad range of laboratory testing equipment specific to radiochemistry in any one or more of the following areas: alpha spectrometry, gamma spectrometry, gas flow proportional counting, and/or liquid scintillation counting. Analyzes environmental samples according to scientific and EPA methodology. Validates and reviews data for accuracy through level IV reports. Uploads laboratory data into reporting system to generate data packages for delivery to clients. Schedules sample workload according to due dates and sample hold times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and repairs analytical instruments to reduce instrument downtime.
  • Works with vendors and suppliers on the installation of new instruments
  • Develops, suggests, and implements process improvements to maximize the productivity and decrease turnaround time.
  • Develops or amends department standard operating procedures
  • Trains new analyst. Provides training on new or updated instruments, software and upload procedures
  • Provides technical assistance to analyst, laboratory technicians, and supervisors with unusual or problematic sample preparation, extraction and analysis.
  • Researches and makes recommendations on the acquisition of new instruments, technology and software
  • Assists in the development of Quality Assurance and Health and Safety protocols.
  • Assists with the prioritizations of workload based on technical aspects of work to be performed
  • Archives electronic instrument data.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

BS/BA in Chemistry or closely related field preferred. However, candidates with a desire to start a successful career with the #1 environmental testing company in the world, should apply as well.

***Also looking for a Senior Specialist should have- 5 years' experience in an analytical laboratory, 2 of which must be in a production environment

Additional Information

Compensation range for entry level:$17-20 (DOE)
