Position Purpose:
Responsible for the full non-engineering support of the Validation Lab. Provide clear, consistent and timely communication of test results. Actively participate in problem-solving.
Essential Functions:
• Install and inspect prototype units during testing process.
o Able to use a bill of materials to build units using proper materials and parts.
o Must understand how to interpret and use production work orders / product router special instructions.
o Inspect and record observations of specimen performance during testing.
o Meet established production standards.
o Assist in the installation of strain gages and sensors for data collection.
• Assist in the fabrication of test fixtures and prototype test samples.
o Able to follow preliminary engineering prints and document modifications.
o Must communicate with engineers, identify problems and proactively offer solutions.
o Support in the development and creation of test fixtures to support testing.
• Keep all equipment in running order and conduct preventative maintenance.
• Self-generate safety walk-through checklist and ensures all items are addressed.
• Become proficient in test setup for various suspension configurations and hydraulic servo equipment.
• Develop and update lab documentation such as inspection procedures and work instructions.
• Operate production machines and equipment following accepted practices.
o Forklift, bushing press, press brake.
o Exercise safe working habits while operating machines.
o Keep machine and work areas clean and free of safety hazards.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Training
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 or 4 year technical degree a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
• Self-directed, self-taught, with strong initiative a must.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a similar industry.
• 1+ years of welding experience and ability to pass HAUX weld certification test.
• Familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to manage multiple situations at one time.
• PC skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• NX, or similar CAD, experience a plus.
• Proactive and oriented to make improvements in systems and procedures.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
Physical Demands
• Frequent need to move about inside office and plant designated areas.
• Frequent movement of hands, wrists, or fingers such as tightening bolts.
• Frequent use of precision tools requiring fine dexterity to affix sensors to test samples - may require out of position body placement.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lift up to 75 pounds in a team lift setting.
• Regularly maneuver and guide objects heavier than 50lbs with assistance from a crane, hoist, or other lifting device.
• Occasional work on the underside of trucks or trailers requiring a toll-around stool, knee pads, or creeper.
• Must be able to wear all required PPE - safety glasses, metgaurd steel toe boots, and hearing protection.
• Data entry performed seated at a workstation for a couple hours at a time.

• Exposure to R&D and manufacturing setting.
• Occasional travel required - less than 10%.
