General Summary

This position is responsible for sampling, testing, and inspecting construction materials or elements in a laboratory or field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process; compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
  • Obtain and maintain certifications as required to perform testing.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of specifications, testing and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to communicate and schedule QC activities with crew and supervision.
  • Ability to interpret specifications and discuss with crew and supervision.
  • Ability to make decisions based on knowledge of specifications and testing requirements.
  • Collect, prepare and test construction material samples, interpret test results and distribute information to crews and personnel.
  • Maintain all QC log books and reports in accordance with specifications.
  • Follow all OSHA and MSHA regulations to perform duties in a safe manner.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education
  • High School Diploma, required.
  • Regional or State Agency certification for material being sampled, tested, and inspected.

Work Experience
  • 1-4 years of related experience, required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
