Purpose:
Perform duties related to inspection through all phases of the manufacturing process as dictated by the Quality Assurance Manual. Incoming inspection and return inspection procedures on all products to determine conformity to product drawings and categorize as required. Assist Engineering and Production Department personnel relative to quality related matters as required. This will be an off-shift position.
Primary Accountabilities:
Conducting final inspection on all products prior to placement into inventory for shipment
Inspect incoming containers per sampling plan and tag for inventory
Identify products that do not have product number tags attached and assist in identifying products that are improperly tagged
Inspect, by percentage sampling and document first piece dimensional checks all products for conformity to product drawings with focus on Melampy and Barber products
Input of all red tags from non-conforming product into database for further analysis
Utilize inspection tools, (IE: gages, templates, micrometers, tapes, etc.)
Understand Calibration and criteria for instrument recall
Determine quality of products during inspection procedure and classify as acceptable, rework, or scrap
Categorize rework and/or scrap products according to defects, i.e. underfill, crack, coldshut, burrs, incomplete processing, etc.
Conduct, oversee and document 100% inspection as required. Which requires physically lifting parts, weights could reach up to 75-80 lbs. per part
Input all final inspection inventory tags into Oracle Daily
Conduct and document sample part inspections as required.
Conduct and document in process (hot) inspection when Group Leader(s) are not working.
Conduct daily Rockwell and Brinell hardness testing by percentage sampling quenched levers and other products as required
Conduct percentage sampling inspections on products purchased from outside sources to determine conformity to product drawings and or written specification
Inspect all return shipments, regardless of reason for return, to verify quality and quantity
Assist in conducting special inspections on new product prototypes as requested
Meet on a daily basis, or as required, with Supervisor to review quality related matters
Participates in special projects and capability studies which may include statistical analysis and performs other duties as assigned
Continually review control plans and procedures for changes that may be required for process.
Participate in Kaizen and QPS Projects as requested
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Heat Treat experience preferred, but not required.
Other:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 65 pounds
Ability to work in an environment of extreme heat
Ability to work in a high pace environment
Ability to complete statistical analysis for PPAP documentation
