Kemps in Rockford, IL, a dairy manufacturer of cultured products (sour cream, cottage cheese) is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor. In this role you will plan, direct and control activities for the quality function within the plant with particular focus on sanitation and laboratory methods. This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Shift: 1st shift

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Train new lab technicians on methods and procedures to ensure quality standards are maintained.
• Responsible for preparation and/or review of SOP’s and SSOP’s that support the plant food safety and quality systems.
• Measure the performance of the sanitation procedures and CIP systems. Monitor the recording charts and perform effectiveness of SSOP’s.
• Conduct maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair of laboratory equipment.
• Collect, prepare, and send out samples for testing at other laboratories as needed.
• Organize analysis and testing of samples from special projects, equipment trials, etc.
• Assist the QA Manager in developing quality programs in the plant and work with external auditors, both regulatory and internal.
• Audit sanitation activities and sanitary maintenance program.
• Assist department supervisors in monitoring GMP compliance.
• Manage Environmental Monitoring Program locally.
• Ensure that the facility and products meet and maintain all required company, customer and regulatory guidelines.
• Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
• Attend required training, including but not limited to, Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
• Willing to work off-shifts to support the Quality Programs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or related field.
• 3-4 years’ experience in food science or dairy experience in a lab/quality/sanitation environment.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a lead or supervisory role.
• Knowledge of Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMP), state and federal regulations preferred.
• Certification and/or license preferred – SQF Practitioner, PCQI Certified, FSMA Qualified, HACCP. International Alliance Certification preferred.
• Ability to calibrate a variety of testing equipment.
