PURPOSE: The QA Technologist implements and/or supports projects in the Consumable Division. The QA Technologist ensures that process audits, inspection & testing procedures are well-defined lead to continuous improvement in quality. The QA Technologist will review customer warranties and implement customer corrective action requests.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Define, troubleshoot, and lead the resolution of daily production quality problems with a general knowledge of all Consumable products.
  • Define, troubleshoot, and resolve daily shop problems with a general knowledge of all Consumable products.
  • Assist in the quality training and performance feedback of production personnel to production supervision.
  • Recommend and/or develop capable inspection test equipment or process. Perform MSA's as required.
  • An understanding of Consumable Products Identification and their different levels of importance. Assist with the proper identification and disposition of all non-conforming items.
  • Utilize Quality Management System tools, continuous improvement methodologies (6 Sigma) and appropriate divisional personnel to organize and lead continuous improvement efforts.
  • Facilitate new process development and introduction into manufacturing through understanding the Manufacturing Process Control Methodology and meeting all Quality Assurance deliverables.
  • Assists the Lead Auditor during Internal and External Quality Audits.
  • General knowledge of ASME Code, Military Specifications & ISO9001 standard.
  • Controls cost of quality related activities.
  • Interacts with other departments to ensure that quality objectives are considered in ongoing projects.
  • Is familiar with all relevant specifications, procedures and Plant Rules and Regulations used in the Quality Assurance, production and Consumable R&D.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • EQUIPMENT: Must be familiar with the equipment and tooling used in the Consumable Division Quality Program. Must be knowledgeable in the use of computers, databases and software programs associated with the Quality Program.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company's 2025 Strategy.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering Technology (BSET) and three years of experience, or Associate Degree in Related Field + five years of Related Experience, or ten+ years in related field.
  • Knowledge of computer operating systems and Microsoft Windows applications.
  • General knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW, and SAW).
  • Ability to understand technical specification, procedures and work instructions as they relate to factory machines/processes.
  • Ability to develop and write specifications, procedures and work instructions as they relate to factory machines/processes.
  • Demonstrate integrity, quality, and be safety conscious
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignment and changing priorities
  • Good decision-making ability
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Able to perform hands-on work as required
