We are currently seeking a passionate and detail-oriented individual to act as Public Art Project Coordinator.

This position:

  • Supports project management, administration, and other specialized functions within the Public Art Program
  • Collaborates with various stakeholder groups, both internal and external, to support public art projects and artist opportunities
  • Works with considerable independence within established Public Art Program guidelines, policies, regulations, procedures, and under general direction of Public Art Manager
  • May be eligible for a hybrid schedule

Essential Functions

Supports project planning and development with the City of Boise's departments, stakeholders, and community partners. Helps identify and support special projects relating to the public art processes and data. Assists in planning, coordinating, and facilitating full-cycle project management and determining project methodology, requirements, and feasibility. Applies project management principles and software to facilitate and manage project selection, initiation, work planning, activity scheduling, resource planning, project assessment, data collection, reporting, and closeout. Helps coordinate projects by working with stakeholders to develop a management strategy for planning, resource allocation, purchasing, schedule, budget management, and closeout of projects. Works to integrate strategic plans, systems, business processes, sustainability, and city-wide initiatives. Creates and delivers professional presentations to city and department staff. Monitors and reports on all aspects of project management. Formally represents the department or division in meetings, on committees, projects, or initiatives as assigned. (50%)

Supports contracts, budgets, logistics, and timeline tracking of public art projects. Works with artists, sub-contractors, and city staff on projects ranging from acquiring fine art objects to implementing large-scale capital projects. Communicates with city departments and divisions regarding finances and procedures. Researches and writes reports for special topics related to public art, creative vitality, and culture. Takes meeting notes, reads and edits written materials, and organizes paperwork. (25%)

Drafts calls-to-artists, supports application intake and review, leads, and facilitates artist selection processes. Schedules and prepares agendas, and presentations for selection panel meetings. Displays strong communication and facilitation skills for navigating project design through feedback and design iterations. Negotiates contracts with artists and other vendors seeking project approvals through the Arts & History Commission and Boise City Council. Presents to city departments, and community organizations; and leads public art walking tours. (25%)

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
  • Bachelor's Degree in art, design, or related field
  • 2 years of experience working in arts-related programs in for-profit, non-profit, and or a municipal art program
  • Or equivalent level of professional experience
Level of Knowledge
  • Art or design field, project coordination, and/or arts administration
  • Public Art field and familiarity with writing artist RFQs/RFPs
Ability
  • Interpret and explain governing regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Operate a computer using word processing, database, and/or spreadsheet software
  • Consolidate information from various sources into a prescribed format
  • Facilitate group meetings, communicate well on the phone and in person with a variety of colleagues, partners, stakeholders, and the community
  • Detail and task-oriented
  • Follow directions while working independently
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
  • Bachelor's degree in art, design, arts administration or related field
  • 2 years of experience working in an administrative or project coordination or management capacity
  • Experience in public administration, and working with a variety of people
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in:
    • The art or design field
    • Project coordination or management, and/or administration
    • Public Art and writing artist RFQs/RFPs
Licensing And Other Requirements
  • Valid state-issued driver's license
Special Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass:
  • City of Boise background check processes including a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
  • Driving Record Check

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is occasionally pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. The noise level is frequently moderate. Work includes the sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision. Employees will sit, stand and walk. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions and outdoor weather conditions.
