Milestone Contractors is a fully integrated highway, heavy construction, asphalt paving, concrete paving, and site-development general contractor providing construction services throughout the state of Indiana and beyond. We are currently hiring for a Project Accountant to the team.

Position Summary

Plans, directs, coordinates or budgets activities concerned with the construction and pavement of heavy/highway projects. Participates in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling and implementation.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages project administration
    • Completes and maintains all project documentation, accurately and on time
    • Establish, update and communicate project schedule; ensure timely completion of project through schedule
    • Coordinate and document utility relocation efforts
    • Review owner initiated change orders and prepare cost estimates and change order submittals
    • Complete project closeout process
    • Manage subcontractors
    • Ensures compliance obligations are met (OSHA, EEO, etc)
    • Develops strong knowledge of all project plans, specs, subcontracts, PO's, shop drawings, submittals
  • Communicates effectively
    • Advises project supervisors of contract and subcontract requirements
    • Develops effective working relationships with owner, subs and suppliers
    • Communicates administrative procedures and specifications for project to applicable parties
    • Organize, conduct and represent company at project coordination meetings
    • Facilitates collaboration among owner, subs, suppliers and company personnel
  • Promotes and maintains safe work
    • Exhibits safe work behaviors
    • Wears all prescribed PPE
    • Enforces safety policies

Supervision Received: Works under general direction of General Superintendent

Supervision Given: Normally none; may supervise or assign and direct work of craft employees in the absence of superintendent

Work Environment

The work environment described here is representative of those that experienced by an employee performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Continuous exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites, including heights, moving vehicles, stopped traffic
  • Continuous exposure to equipment cabs, including computer controls, dials, handles, knobs, switches
  • Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, asphalt and/or concrete, dirt
  • Exposure to noise, including horns, mechanical equipment, heavy equipment, jackhammers
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes and airborne particles
  • Indoor office environment includes computers, copy machines, fax machines, tablets and other mobile devices
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Travels job site, which can include asphalt, gravel, hills, slopes and uneven terrain
  • Possess excellent stamina to work between 8-12 hours per day
  • Sits at computer screen and type
  • Sits in motor vehicle and drives from site to site
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, normally 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work can vary, but shifts are normally 8 or more hours. Overtime, weekend and shift work are frequently required.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during business day; some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field
  • 2 years' experience as a project manager in the heavy highway industry, OR 4 -S years of experience as an assistant project manager in the heavy highway industry with progressive work responsibilities
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Prior experience in heavy highway construction
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must adhere to drug free workplace and union substance abuse testing requirements
  • If required to drive a company vehicle, must have or be able to obtain valid, state driver's license and meet company driver requirements
Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

Must be authorized to work in the United States, as verified through E-Verify. Some job sites may require additional criminal background testing.
