The Project Geologist will be responsible for executing all technical aspects of projects; emphasizing the approved LOE (Level of Effort) and budget, technical accuracy, safety and quality. Supervises and mentors junior staff responsible for day to day activities. The Project Geologist is responsible for leading technical activities on projects which require subject expertise (plan preparation, field execution, and report completion); assisting in the preparation of technical/cost proposals and supporting Project Managers in maintaining client relationships. Provide overall quality control review on documents. Project Geologist assists senior staff with sales and marketing efforts by maintaining excellent customer relationships while identifying potential future opportunities.

In this role the Project Geologist will:

• Maintain excellent client relationships within specific projects
• Support technical/cost proposal efforts
• Support sales and marketing
• Assist with Project start-up
• Implement safety initiatives
• Budget/cost control including maintaining approved Level of Effort for technical staff
• Develop and implement project schedules
• Quality, including providing Quality Control reviews
• Technical management of project team(s)
• Ensure compliance and contractual requirements of technical deliverables
• Oversee equipment, materials, laboratory, and subcontractor procurements in conjunction with Project Manager
• Lead/manage field efforts
• Obtain favorable feedback/CPARS ratings
• Promoted effective communication
• Assist with project close-out
• Development of employees
• Identification of stretch goals and assignments
• Understanding and support of the career goals of employees
• Identification of new talent
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
• May direct/mentor 0-4 non-supervisory employees/technical staff.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelors degree in Geology or related engineering or environmental science
• Professional Geologist or other related professional certification (or ability to obtain) is preferred
• 5-15 years experience as a Geologist, Engineer or Environmental Scientist
• Experience performing environmental investigations, site remediation, and long-term monitoring. Federal project experience is preferable but not required
• Regulatory compliance experience (CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, NPDES, CAA, CWA, etc.)
• Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe
• Other skills required:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, lithologic logs, engineering drawings, and procedure manuals. Ability to manage/write complex technical reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of stakeholders

• Loading/unloading vehicles

Field and site work:

• Pre-bid site walks and inspections
• Mobilization and demobilization of field programs (including long-term monitoring projects, operations and maintenance programs, inspection, environmental investigation, etc.)
• Field Operations (field team leader for multimedia sampling, environmental drilling and well installation oversight, treatment plant operations oversight, contractor oversight, etc.)
• Travel required
