General Summary



With safety as the priority, schedule, coordinate, and manage daily project activity.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include: (But not limited to the following)

  • Supporting Penhall Company Safety Culture
    • Assist (Field Supervisors) in developing work plans and JHA's (Job Hazard Analysis) and Pre-Task Planning
    • Participate in daily safety meetings (when onsite)
    • Help Supervisors and Safety Manager in their duties for the safety of all assigned employees to ensure the safe execution of all activities, including the strict adherence to company safety policies and programs through the communication and enforcement of the Penhall's Safety and Health Management Program, including the ability to independently stop work for a safety violation or suspected safety violation by communicating to the Owner/General Contractor and inform them, that we will stop work if unsafe activities continue.
  • Contract Management
    • Complete understanding of the contracts including Prime Contracts to ensure that Penhall's contractual obligations and the owners/General Contractor obligations are met. Identify any anomalies or misunderstandings in the agreements.
    • Identify Project Risk and independently develop Mitigation Plans for improvement and share such plans with Branch/Division management.
    • Assist with timely notices as required to the Owner or General Contractor to protect Penhall's interests regarding extra work, design changes, delays, impacts, etc.
  • Management of Subcontractor & Vendors
    • Assist with management of subcontractors' and vendors' schedules, performance, and payments, including assisting with project buyouts (assisting with writing PO's, subcontracts) the exercise of decision-making to reschedule and/or re-coordinate work through Field Supervisors to ensure compliance with applicable project schedules and contractual obligations.
  • Project Management/Operations
    • Assist with communication and coordination of workforce work assignments, equipment, and material needs.
    • Develop internal work plans (project playbooks) and distribute them timely.
    • Assist with project submittals, process RFIs & shop drawings (demo plans), as required by the Owner.
    • Assist with developing and maintain site logistics plan with Superintendents and Field Supervision.
    • Track job costs and labor/equipment productivity through B2W and ensure that all information is uploaded into Viewpoint/Vista accounting and document control systems.
    • Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure work complies with specifications and schedule requirements, including representing company/project in meetings with the client (Owner or General Contractor) and subcontractors as required.
    • Help ensure the project team delivers a quality product meeting Penhall's high-quality standard.
  • Leadership Skills
    • Time management, collaborative skills and dependability
    • Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance, such as interns.
    • With Managements assistance, assign work to employees based on material, equipment, or worker requirements of specific jobs.
    • Exhibits strong leadership qualities, a self-starter, can think on own without constant supervision.
    • Ability to always maintain discretion and confidentiality.


Job Requirements
Qualifications
  • Experienced with interpreting contract documents, understanding of basic accounting principles for getting Viewpoint/Vista labor reports out to Field Supervision weekly and being able to explain them. Ability to interpret drawings & specifications.
  • Knowledge of the Civil Construction Industry, Concrete sawing, drilling, and breaking industry is a plus.
  • Computer skills including excel, word, outlook & PowerPoint, Viewpoint/Vista is a plus.
  • Plan Swift, Bluebeam or similar on-screen takeoff software
  • OSHA 30 is a plus.

Ability to:
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Preferably to be at least 21 years of age.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing in English, Spanish language is a plus.
  • Reacts well under pressure and be detail oriented.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record required, duties may require the use of the motor vehicle, Smith Driving School training or equivalent is a plus.
  • A must always to pass a pre-employment and random screening for illegal substances
  • Must be able to work well in a teamwork environment
  • Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality is required, and an essential function of this position
  • Broad understanding of the Civil Construction Industry

Experience and Education
  • Entry-level to 3 years of industry experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering/Science or Civil Engineering preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment, and methods, plus hands-on experience in craft supervision and labor coordination, required.
  • Sales experience is a plus for upselling project scopes.

Working Conditions

Environment:

The working environments described here are representative of those that will be encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position will include working:
  • Outdoors on job locations.
  • Travel is required
  • The role may require working nights and weekends and some holidays
  • Working in Offices, in Field/Branch and Main Office (Training Purposes) at home when required.

The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The employee must be able to:
  • Be able to sit, walk and stand for long periods
  • Be able to work in an environment where noise and some dusts are present every day
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Be able to wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment provided by the Company.
