Position Summary:

Responsible for design, engineering, and general oversight of various capital engineering projects for quarry & plant operations as well as rail and marine unloading; project management of design and field construction, various aggregate plant improvements, new plant installations, process improvement projects, and other construction management projects in the aggregates and Ready-Mix arena. Also responsible for communicating with operations managers, senior division management and corporate managers on project status. Applicant must be very innovative and knowledgeable in aggregate plant processing and be able to assess and submit various process improvements for our aggregate operations. Must be able to manage multiple projects in multiple areas throughout the division simultaneously, adhere to and communicate variances to approved budgets, follow and enforce Martin Marietta safety guidelines, and track completion of projects on a regular basis without losing sight of the direction of the projects within the division. Additional duties include analyzing the effects of various process improvements to an aggregates operation.

This position will be located in San Antonio, Texas and report in to the Corporate Office in Raleigh.

  • B.S. in mining, civil, or mechanical engineering preferred; or equivalent experience required; PE license a plus
  • Two years experience in the aggregates or related industry.
  • Experience with material handling, installation and start-up of conveyors, screens, crushers, wash systems, etc.
  • Ability to develop structural and mechanical general arrangement drawings, to include steel and foundations
  • Ability to read blueprints and provide oversight for steel fabrication and erection
  • Experience with AggFlow (Aggregate Plant Simulation program) and AutoCAD software for plant design
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; excellent report writing skills; proficient computer skills a must
  • Ability to develop project scope of work and cost estimates.
  • Develop and manage overall project schedule and communicate project updates effectively and accurately.
  • Out of town travel required
