PURPOSE: Product development, manufacturing, process and system improvement, sales support, and other activities related to the Additive business.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Apply engineering and scientific principles in the design and execution of research and development projects.
  • Work on the design, specification, and documentation of equipment, processes and materials used in additive manufacturing.
  • Operate, maintain and initiate design improvements to additive systems to facilitate increased performance and operability.
  • Support printing efforts including 24/7 prints which may require shift work.
  • Work to improve quality and value of additive manufactured parts.
  • Work with production to resolve robotic print issues.
  • Support sales efforts providing assistance with customer inquiries and solutions.
  • Maintain records of all work in process and documents interim/final results in the applicable format.
  • May provide task oriented direction to Technicians, Technologists, and/or lower level Engineers in the execution of development projects.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company's 2025 Strategy.


BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Required
    • Minimum four-year B.S. in Engineering (Material Science, Welding, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, Welding, or Software) with 5 plus years of experience.
    • Possesses and applies in depth knowledge of engineering and scientific principles, practices and procedures, within the field of specialization, to the completion of difficult assignments.
    • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
    • Works effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
    • Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Possesses basic programming experience including sound fundamental awareness of programming techniques and concepts.
  • Preferable
    • MS or PhD in Engineering (Material Science, Welding, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, Welding, or Software).
    • Experience modeling and drafting in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
    • Working experience with National Instruments hardware and software (LabVIEW)
    • Intermediate or advanced programming experience (LabVIEW, C, C++, C#, Python, etc.)
    • Robotics - especially industrial articulated robots
    • Welding - especially Laser and GMAW
    • 3D Printing
