SUMMARY

The Project Engineer designs, develops or redesigns new or existing products for a manufacturing division. This position initiates designs and develops new projects as well as performs improvements or re-design of existing projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assures customer satisfaction with the successful coordination of the project(s).

Looks for opportunities to redesign legacy products.

Creates designs and documents manufacture of products including drawings, bills of material, material specifications and design files.

Guides and coordinates efforts of engineers, designers and technicians.

Develops and maintains engineering designs, calculations, processes and procedures.

Responsible for taking the lead on design projects from concept to production.

Produces necessary engineering calculations and component specifications.

Interfaces with designers and other engineers in team environment.

Checks the work of others for accuracy, tolerances, and the applicability of the design.

Develops project schedules to meet deadlines.

Interfaces with internal project teams, management, customers and suppliers.

Maintains timely communications, and develops collaborative rapports with solutions-oriented approaches.

Communicates project plans, objectives, timelines, schedules, job assignments, responsibilities and reporting relationships.

Proactively manages changes in project scope.

May perform business analysis tasks to assist in successful project completion.

Works closely with business stakeholders to understand and help document a formal project business case.

Implements industry best practices, project management tools and methodologies.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and a minimum of five (5) years' relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience.Experience with Solid Works, Mechanical AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

Strong working knowledge and proficiency in MS Project

Ability to provide complete Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting to the client / company

Skilled in facilitating teamwork and coordinating efforts for the successful achievement of goals

Excellent supervisory and management skills with ability to resolve conflicts, grievances, confrontations or disagreements in a constructive manner

Exceptional organization skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with solid presentation skills and ability to write federal contract proposals

Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills

Ability to plan and oversee projects through the use of project management software tools and methodologies

Ability to schedule, plan and lead meetings

Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
