Advertised Job Summary:

The College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management seeks applications for the position of Program Director for Engagement and Learning Outcomes. Duties associated with this position consists of, but are not limited to the following: Support existing engagement programs in the Department of Retailing and School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and in the College of HRSM (e.g. Experience Expo, Retailing Week etc.). In addition, this position will oversee, develop, and implement initiatives designed to engage alumni and industry professionals through strategic partnerships that provide experiential learning opportunities for graduate and online undergraduate RETL and HTMT students. Examples may include facilitating formal and informal alumni and industry executive mentorship opportunities in cooperation with college, school and department colleagues, a web-based and/or in-person speaker series, virtual career coaching, engagement with industry advisory boards, implementation of corporate partner programs to benefit the school, department or college, and participation in professional organization networking trips/site visits. Serve on the College of HRSM Engaged Learning and Outreach Working Group to enhance communication and collaboration among college, school and departmental programs and offerings. Work with department leadership, the HRSM Marnie Pearce Professionalism Seminar, HRSM Corporate Engagement, HRSM Alumni Relations, and departmental faculty to generate topics of interest; and plan, coordinate, and oversee professional development events to include: panels and forums, guest speakers, workshops, and classroom sessions to educate graduate and undergraduate students. Provide individual and group career coaching to assist career development needs of graduate residential and online students (e.g., career exploration, networking, job search strategies, resume/CV preparation).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Earned master's degree in RETL, HTMT, or close related field. Previous industry experience in retailing, merchandising, hospitality, or tourism. Previous higher education teaching experience in retailing, hospitality, or tourism.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of related program and objectives, management principles, HRSM's organizational structure, the employees that manage the work, and the processes applicable to the work. Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations, make presentations, and prepare reports. Excellent written and oral communications skills, and the ability to work without supervision.

Other Relative Duties Program Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by a department chair or school director to ensure the success of career development services on behalf of the department and school, on campus and online students, and alumni. These duties may include travel and attending industry conferences and college events, provide leadership and oversight of efforts in graduate survey compilation and reporting; annual planning and reporting; documentation of department events; collaboration and cooperation with internship directors and faculty, and the HRSM Advancement and Marketing and Communications staff.

Relationship Management: Works in collaboration and cooperation with department chairs and internship directors to identify appropriate organizations for career and experiential learning opportunities for current students. Initiates, develops, maintains, and tracks professional relationships with alumni and industry professionals. This function also includes continued career development services for alumni and engagement with applicants of graduate and/or undergraduate HTMT and RETL degree programs.
