The Department of Physiology, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University invites applications for a tenure track position as a Professor. The Medical College of Georgia embraces a tripartite mission of education, scholarship, and administration/service activities. Successful candidates are expected to establish vigorous independent programs of extramurally funded research to complement the research strengths and goals of the department and the University. The candidate will join a vibrant and growing department focusing on various research questions of cellular signaling, neural regulation and hormonal control in a broad range of whole animal, organ and cellular model systems of cardiovascular, endocrine and renal disease.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive start-up package and will be assigned lab and office space in state-of-the-art research facilities. There is a strong institutional commitment to core facilities, graduate programs, and an interdisciplinary approach that promotes collaborations both within and across departmental lines.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Education - 10% effort
Participate in medical school and graduate school education.
Research - 70% effort
Maintain a high level of research productivity and consistently publish in top quality, peer-reviewed journals.
Service - 20% effort
Contribute to institutional and national service.
Required Qualifications
A PhD in biomedical sciences, or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited college or university, with postdoctoral training is required. Applicants also are expected to have teaching experience and be committed to teaching students in the Medical College and Graduate School.
The final candidate will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree in the form of an original transcript. Those candidates trained by a foreign institution also will be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
All candidates must possess independent extramural funding and demonstrate the potential for its continuation.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctor Of Medicine from an accredited college or university
The preferred candidate will have extensive research experience studying inflammation in health and disease.
The preferred candidate will have experience serving in a leadership position/s, such as a division leader or director of a department/center.
Shift/Salary
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
