This role is for a driven individual whose knowledge and skills will contribute to advancing our Planning team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of production and capacity planning in manufacturing industry.

Under the direction of the Buffalo Supply Chain Manager, the Production Planner has the overall responsibility of monitoring and addressing all forms of demand for finished assemblies and sub-assemblies in Buffalo. The person in this role will serve as a critical link between Operations, Sales, and inter-company teams. The position requires direct communication and close collaboration with the extended Buffalo organization.

You Will Have the Opportunity To:

  • Monitor and address all forms of demand (sales orders, sales forecast, safety stock) for finished and sub-assemblies in plant Buffalo by creating/releasing production orders and partnering with Production in ensuring the orders are addressed timely. The review of production lead times and sales order accuracy is a must.
  • Manage planning aspects related to the inter-company business. Monitor the status of orders and schedule accuracy, will communicate to internal Materion customers and coordinate needed changes; will work with department managers to balance workload and resources to meet customer demand.
  • Partner with Procurement to secure availability of non-precious raw materials necessary to maintain a leveled production schedule and prevent disruptions, as well as any other materials needed in the vault operations.
  • Coordinate closely with other departments to manage exceptions/ address change requests submitted by them (she/he will check and decide expediting or re-scheduling feasibility). Adjust the schedule based on bottlenecks and coordinate with Production on relaying the latest production completion dates to internal customers, while also challenge the delays and push for timely recovery.
  • Assist in defining, implementing, maintaining, and developing Supply Chain continuous improvement initiatives to support internal and external needs.
  • Lead efforts to improving planning in SAP and pursue best practices in order to increase efficiencies, automate where possible, eliminate waste.
  • Participate in local and virtual meetings as needed, participate in physical inventory, and manage any other tasks as assigned by the manager.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate's degree - minimum requirement, preferable focus on Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business Administration or related field.
  • 3+ years' experience in manufacturing industry in a Supply Chain Management related role (Production Planning, Procurement, Inventory Management).

    At least 2 years' experience using ERP software is a must, SAP preferred.
  • Detail-oriented and possess the ability to follow through on issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Willingness to participate in continued education opportunities to enhance skills and proficiency.
  • Strong problem solving, negotiation, and people skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (especially Excel) and Outlook.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
