Position Overview

The Novelis Clayton team is seeking an Operations Leader. This position is responsible for planning and directing all Operational functions in our manufacturing area to ensure all necessary resources are available and utilized to drive continuous improvement. The Operations Leader participates as a member of the plant leadership team reporting directly to the Plant Manager; contributing to the achievement of plant and corporate strategic objectives while meeting the Manufacturing areas internal and external customer requirements. The incumbent will be required to actively support and encourage Lean activities, striving to exceed previous best performances to achieve excellence.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

• Ensures all Manufacturing area activities are consistent with all applicable Federal, State and local laws, EHS certifications, as well as Novelis policies and procedures
• Provides leadership in the development and implementation of longer term improvement activities for the Manufacturing area.
• Leads the development of world class 5S practices and maintains positive employee morale and welfare.
• Ensures the Manufacturing area production meets the requirements of all internal and external customers.
• Leads continuous improvement initiatives to ensure strategic viability and sustainability to Clayton and Corporate objectives.
• Participates as a member of the plant leadership team to establish policies, objectives, and the strategic direction of the Clayton plant.
• Builds impactful teams through effectively mentoring the team leadership skills: setting and achieving goals, conflict resolution, continual improvement mentality, fact-based decision making, use of data for process control, adherence to work instructions, etc.
• Provides leadership of the Assoc Operations Leaders and teams, communications, budgeting and cost control through the effective management of people and processes

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree required, plus 5+ years of proven leadership experience
• Be role model for leading and developing a positive, team-oriented culture

Preferred Qualifications:

• 7+ years of manufacturing experience
• Experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement.
• Excellent leadership skills and good interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to drive accountability
• Proficient in Computer Software - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Location Profile

Built in 1970 the Clayton facility employs more than 100 people and engages in a re-rolling and finishing operation that supplies foil and light-gauge non-heat treatable aluminum coiled sheet and products including semi-rigid formed container stock HVAC standard and automotive fin stock pharmaceutical closure stock spiral duct stock and distribution.
