Product Owner Job Description


Megabus is seeking a Product Owner to join its rapidly expanding retail organization. The product owner will be responsible for the product's strategic vision, continuous investment, refinement, management and support of the product within our roadmap. In addition, they will deliver value incrementally towards Coach USA broader goals. The megabus product owner will manage a team with a mix of internal and external resources, ensuring that the various threads of the product development and support activities are well coordinated to provide timely value.

Core Job Responsibilities include:

· Develops, owns, and executes product roadmap to have the innovation, go-to-market plan, and end-to-end launch of products

· Collaborates with key stakeholders and customers across the organization to develop and socialize the product vision, strategy, features, and prioritization

· Defines and executes the go-to-market plan, working to ensure that product management, marketing, and sales have what they need to be successful

· Translates product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements, including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria

· Works with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders, including analytics, design/user experience, engineering, and user enablement

· Turns data insights into products with actionable outcomes for the ultimate customer

· Works in an Agile environment and continuously reviews the business needs, refine priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks

· Works with user-focused departments to define the self-service user experience, support, and monitoring for customers

· Prioritizes and maintains the product sprint backlog and balances the requirements of stakeholders

· Develops and maintains appropriate tracking and reporting of product performance post-launch to evaluate future investment

· Leads the product functional design process based on an intimate knowledge of the users and technology

· Works closely with key business owners and stakeholders and the IT delivery teams to ensure high quality, on time, within the agreed to scope and budget

· Captures learnings and improvements through the product lifecycle the Release Management team can apply to future projects within future releases

· Acts as a subject matter expert on the product and ensures that adherence to process is maintained

· Actively develop team members through coaching and mentoring to ensure team members are achieving the necessary standards and are continuing to improve

· Possesses a high degree of proficiency in prototyping, iterative development, and understanding of agile principles

Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, business or related scientific discipline

· 10 years of product and project development experience

· 10 years of commercial transportation experience

· Experience working within a Release Management model, either within a technical delivery manager or project manager

· Experience working within the IT Software Delivery Lifecycle and knowledge of key concepts of development and testing

· Experience working within a complex IT environment with a significant volume of change

· Project Management experience or exposure, creating and maintaining a project plan

· Experience in the delivery of high-performance enterprise-scale applications

· Experience working in an Agile environment focused on short delivery timescales

· Experience of working with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)

· Scrum Master certification is a plus

· Exceptionally well organized with a capacity to handle and digest large amounts of information from a variety of sources
