Overview of The Role
As a Risk Management Product Owner within the PMAR (performance measurement, analytics and risk) technology team, you will develop and communicate the product's vision to be fulfilled by their agile team. You are the team's key stakeholder who serves as proxy for the customer - both internal and external. You represent thevoice of stakeholders by defining, prioritizing and maintaining and a product backlogto ensure that development teams are working on stories that maximize business value and meet defined success criteria. You are able to build strong relationships with stakeholders, can communicate clear and actionable requirements, have a solid financial services background, and demonstrate true passion for the role. The role will require strong communication and leadership skills as regular reporting with senior stakeholders is expected globally with core impacted teams being in the US and UK.
Duties and responsibilities
- Act as the Risk Management Product Owner for Agile Software Development teams across the globe
- Collaborate with stakeholders (business sponsor, SMEs, development teams and IT departments) to ensure goals are clear and aligned to business objectives
- Plan, prioritize, and maintain a healthy product backlog that delivers maximum value for the business while adhering to company strategy
- Translate business and technical requirements into clear user stories for agile teams to implement
- Facilitate backlog refinement and sprint planning in partnership with the ScrumMaster
- Communicate with stakeholders so they understand when key features will be available
- Communicate product features and functionality with clarity
- Collaborate with stakeholders regarding the correction (or not) of defects
- Participate in the scrum ceremonies, evaluate project/product progress, and communicate status & risks appropriately
- Collaborate with teams to develop and implement training and communications that allow stakeholders to better understand the products and associated changes
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Technical skills and qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required
CSPO certification required, CSP-PO preferred
Previous Product Owner experience
Thorough understanding of how to interpret business and technical needs and translate them into themes, epics and user stories
Experience in the Financial, and/or Software sectors strongly preferred
Previous experience of working with MSCI products (RiskMetrics and BarraOne)
