Job Summary

The Product Engineer (Medium UPS - AC Power) will be responsible for several Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) product lines in North America, with global product influence. The Product Engineer role works closely with internal customers to both develop new product and sustain existing product lines. Product Engineers also interface with external customers and Sales force to communicate product performance, design change, and field issue resolution.

Responsibilities:

• Become subject matter expert for assigned Uninterruptible Power Supply product lines, serving both internal and external customers.
• Resolve high priority field issues as required, coordinating troubleshooting procedures with technical service team, and working with product design teams to deliver field corrections.
• Communicate directly with customers regarding product operation, changes, and issue resolution.
• Act as voice of the customer for new product development, providing lessons learned, and ensuring product specifications and customer requirements are met.
• Provide technical guidance to sustaining engineering team for continuing product improvement, design optimization, and component obsolescence triage.
• Provide input to root cause analysis efforts for field returns, including written reports of findings.
• Manage product documentation change (user manuals, installation guides, technical sales documents).
• Support manufacturing plant lines and production test teams.
• Create and approve component deviations or engineering change notices for products.
• Develop test cases and assist with product design verification testing.
• Assist with customer factory witness testing events and occasionally perform product demonstrations.
• Assist compliance engineering in agency testing activities, including withstand and seismic testing.
• Work in a power lab environment to evaluate product performance, test new features, or recreate field issues - including the use of meters, power analyzers, oscilloscopes, and thermocouples/thermal cameras

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience OR Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma and 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Prefer customer-facing product support experience
• Prefer product design experience
• Occasional travel to customer sites or global design centers.
• Relative knowledge of 3-phase power
